Machinima (Animation Software)

Each student is responsible for writing a short research paper and presenting a synopsis of this paper in class. The paper topics will be handed out in week 4, but will be based on the New Media terminology discussed in week one. Students are required to use at least four scholarly sources, two of which may be from class readings. The paper will be approximately 2000 words double spaced, using 12 point font (8 pages, to a maximum of 10 pages). Print on one side of the page only.

Footnotes and a bibliography are required, using the MLA style®

Grading for Final Papers:

Grammar, spelling and typos (3 points)
Clear and focused writing; defining and supporting their argument (12 points)
In class presentation:
Students will give a five (5) minute presentation of their final research paper in class, supported by visual materials. Students should prepare one good discussion question to pose to the class at the end of their presentation.
Rubric for Presentations:
Use of interesting examples and visual media (2 points)
Originality of ideas (3 points)
Comprehensiveness: did student cover the topic well? (3 points)
Polish: Practice and preparation pays off (2 points)
