This essay is a formal academic essay and should be properly cited.  You must structure your essay properly.  Use proper academic protocols according to MLA 8, the rules of which can be accessed many places, though I find OWL Purdue OWL Purdue MLA style guide to be the most useful.  There are many others you many prefer. Times New Roman, 12 point, double space, proper margins, number pages on the top right corner, no spaces between paragraphs, etc.  STAPLE.

5-6 pages, not including bibliography or title page.

 

This essay will require that you do some research in accredited academic sources in order to discuss your topic.  A formal essay should draw on at least three such sources, though perhaps not equally.  Look through the on-line sources and library stacks available to you and you should find helpful materials.  There are no “right” answers here.  You are doing a thoughtful analysis that offers an argument. If you have any other ideas, you are welcome to pursue them, but it might be good to discuss your idea briefly with your tutorial leader.

 

Essays will be graded with attention to the above requirements, as well as to choice of research sources, writing, clarity, and general content.  Be careful that your essay is organized around a central organized thesis that is expressed in a clear statement at the end of your first paragraph.
