SLIP 3010: Intro to Interpreting
Think Piece #3
For Think Piece #3, you will create/design your own model of interpretation. Study the four different models of interpreting that Cokely, Colonomos, Gish, and Humphrey & Alcorn propose (see the PDF file “Models of Interpreting” on iCollege). What things do these models have in common? Which parts of each model speak to you the most? Which parts of the interpreting process do you think are the most important to include in a model of interpretation?
Once you have the parts of the interpreting process that you think are most important, get creative! Get out your colored pencils—or your Power Point (or other software), or whatever gets your creative juices flowing—and make your own model of interpreting. You will not be graded on your artistic skills, but rather on the content of your model. Stick figures and crayons are acceptable.
. Bring your creation to class and you will be required to explain and show your work to the class (as part of your grade). Please keep the model interpretation basic no need to be fancy. Please include a summary as well.
