Higher Education Organization

ORGANIZATION REVIEW AND PAPER–Each student is required to attend a higher education organization meeting or sponsored program/event related to some aspect of cultural pluralism (race, ethnicity, gender, or religion) with which the student is least familiar. Specifically, the event or program must be one that is different from the student’s frame of reference and out of the student’s zone of comfort and familiarity. The organization/event may be organized by students, faculty, or staff. In some cases, community-based events will be considered if they are related to college and university populations. The student will write a review of that meeting/event/program. The review, due March 27, should consist of five (5) double-spaced, typewritten pages and include four parts: (a) a description of the organization including its purpose, goals and membership-no more than one page; (b) a review of the organization derived from personal observations and interviews with students and/or professionals involved; and (c) a statement of why this meeting/ or participation in this event took you out of your experience and comfort zone; and (d) personal views of the role this organization plays in campus life. Field experience time will be allowed for this exercise
