Virtual Journal

The purpose of the Virtual Journal is to share articles, readings, books, reports, etc. you find impactful.  Remember….effective leaders elevate those around them.

Virtual Journal REQUIREMENTS:

Journaling is a method of thinking more deeply about an experience or content.  As you journal, you are thinking about important elements of the experience and content in a way that builds a depth in thinking.  You understand the material more comprehensively.  Leaders take that deeper understanding and share with others in an effort to expand knowledge.  This assignment provides a platform to share your discoveries potentially influencing others.  Please see the detailed requirements below.

 

The Virtual Journal is a platform for you to share knowledge and information that impacts you.  As you read material that stimulates a deeper thinking, share with others.  Use the following guidelines for assignment details:

  • Be sure to address these three (3) topics with each posting:
    • Brief overview of the content of the reading
    • How it impacted you
    • How will you use it for improvement in your life, work, leadership plan, etc.  Show the application of the article.
  • Topics related to leadership skills, reflective learning, leadership behaviors, time management, communication, team dynamics, professional improvement, emotional intelligence are examples of acceptable topics.   
  • A minimum of three (3) initial postings is required.  I encourage you to provide more for a richer experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) reply postings is required.  Please feel free to respond to as many initial postings as you would like.
  • Continued discussion about an impactful posting is welcomed.  It allows for a deeper dive into the topic.
  • Only scholarly works are acceptable.  Those include journal articles, books, manuscripts, and other scholastic writings.  Twitter feeds and social media postings are not scholarly.
  • Module readings and your texts are acceptable.
  • It is OK for more than 1 person to have the same article.
  • Times New Roman 12 point or Arial 11 point.
  • 150-300 word initial postings.  Use sutable number of words for reply postings.
  • Please include a copy of the article/book description/scholarly work (as an attachment) to the Discussion Board Posting
  • It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you journal as you go and not wait until the final day to post.
  • Include your name, “Initial” or “Reply”, content, and an APA formated reference with each INITIAL posting
