In response to watching the following documentary film, answer the questions below:
• Fed Up (2014)
http://watchdocumentaries.com/fed-up/
A) In addition to addressing a broader social issue, alludes to how one or more facets of marketing (which we broadly conceive of as factors related to pricing, promotion, product development, and distribution) play(s) a role in contributing to that broader social problem. From the movie you watched, identify and explain THREE different broad ethical or social considerations related to marketing activities, including WHY you think they are potentially problematic. (roughly 60-70% of the content)
B) For each of the issues identified above, propose a way that marketers could mitigate or eliminate these issues. Remember to balance the ethical & social considerations with the need of companies to generate some level of profit, while still minimizing harm to affected parties (including “society” and “the environment”). (roughly 30-40% of the content)
We are not looking for you to employ a philosophical or professional ethical framework as part of your discussion; simply discuss the ethical issues you have identified in terminology anyone could understand. That being said, we will be looking for evidence of thoughtful, analytical arguments, not just repetition of course concepts. Therefore, use diverse references to prove your arguments.
Please write this in essay form (i.e. don’t include the questions listed above as bullets within the document). For parsimony (and to save space), you can address both A & B in the same section of the essay; they don’t have to be separated. Please don’t include the text above that outlines A & B.
Formatting:
Length – MAXIMUM of 7 pages – double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font, 1-inch (2.54cm) margins.
References – be sure to cite all your sources.
Proofreading – just like every other assignment, points are deducted for spelling and grammatical errors, and if you don’t follow the format specified above (so check your font and margins).
