Journals entries should be done regularly and be kept up to date with course readings. Instructors may request that they be handed in at any time.

Purpose: To provide a vehicle whereby students can
– reflect on their experiences with gender relationships at school, at home and in society
– engage their readings critically
Assignment Parameters:
1. Reading journals should have at least 24 entries. Each entry should reflect on one of the class readings. Half of these entries can be short reflections, 3-4 sentences, reflections which capture the key issues in the article and half should be longer reflections (150-200 words).
2.Longer entries (150-200 words) – This should be an expanded version of the short entry. You may consider some of the following focusing questions in your reflection:
From my readings of the articles, what
– confirmed my previous ideas and/or experience?
– challenged past or existing concepts and/or experience?
– offered the greatest insights?
What did I learn about myself
– as a woman/man
– in relationship to the other gender(s)
– as a gendered person participating in the institutions of family, church or society
What implications does the reading have for how I might participate in family, church or society in the future?
