• Diabolical Rearrangement Poem Creation with Official Formal Essay 15% Due Oct 10th
Friends—what do you think of/about this? What about taking a magazine or a local newspaper or a flyer or a poster or a brochure and (what about?) cutting it up or rearranging it or reframing it (somehow) into some thing/shape/form that you find aesthetically or poetically satisfying? So, that is, what about taking an existing text out there in the so-called real world and then rearranging it (diabolically) for your own poetic purposes? That make sense? If so, yay! Next, what about then providing me with (in addition to your diabolically re-jigged poem) a 500 wordish essay that discusses your text, your composition process, and specifically how you see your text working in relation to any of our other course texts/themes/discussions? What I’m especially curious about is how you understand your reworked text as achieving (or striving to achieve) “poetry”? Perhaps you might think about compression or image or the disjunctive or the unexpected or nonsense or music or beauty or spirit or fracture or tradition or or or?
