This unit will enable the learner to :-
* understand the importance of equality
*be able to work in an inclusive way
*Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion
Explain what is meant by
A) Diversity
B) Equality
C) Inclusion
D) Discrimination
Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting
Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination (in other words what good practice makes it less likely that children /parents will be discriminated against)
Identify which legislation and codes of practice relating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to own practice (See resource)
Describe how to challenge discrimination in a way that encourages change (what would you do if you heard of a child / another practitioner / a parents using discriminatory remarks?)
Describe how and when to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion (There is a world of advice in organisations / charities/ the internet. Give examples of the sort of information that might be useful for Equality / Diversity and how you would go about finding it.)
