The struggle for freedom.

You are to select a topic in African American studies from a range of time periods of pre history to the Civil War. Meaning your topic can be selected from any time range in your text book. It can be from the that time period and can also relate to the present day as well, but it is up to you to select your topic of interest. The example in the syllabus is Reparations and the thesis is stated under – what do you see. Here I have a thesis and in class I went over every variable within the thesis. On your paper you will divide it into 3 sections- first the – What do you see, which includes your topic and your thesis statement. Then explain in one typed page, the facts of your thesis. On the second -fourth page you will title it ,” What do you think”-In this section you will given an interpretation of your facts and an analysis of the topic utilizing references to back up your paper ( utilize turabian format found on the Library tab- you will see that format with other style formats). In the third section you will title it” What do you do? You then have to do something. If you look at my example in the syllabus, I stated that I joined a task force on Reparations and etc. You have to do something related to your topic. You may decide to do a survey related to your topic, interview an expert on your topic, join an organization, hold a discussion group, design something, write a letter to someone connected to your research, or what ever you decide befitting of your topic. What ever you do, you must have proof of it. If you write a letter as documentation, then I must see that letter and have proof it is sent, If it is a survey, then I must see the questionnaire published in your paper along with the surveys completed. If you join something related to the project then I need to see proof of the membership. These examples are just that, examples, but I am asking you to be creative and come up with your own project. But that decision is up to you as this project is yours.
