Kinsman argues that “the formation of…our capacities for eroticism and sexual practices are made as a very embodied social and historical practice. They are social and relational and not simply individual or physiological.” (265) Drawing on all of the academic readings in the “Key Concepts” weeks (Weeks 2&3), explain the significance of the social construction of sexuality. You may want to use examples from the readings. Hint: both Kinsman and Fausto-Sterling discuss the importance of the “material.”
There is no need to do library research for this paper. You must, however, refer to all of the required academic readings from weeks 2&3. You may also refer to lectures, but the bulk of your analysis should come from course texts. Note: you may also refer to the Weeks’ readings from Week 4 and the recommended readings from Week 2&3.2
The essay should be developed around an explicit, argumentative thesis. It must include proper referencing, and be formatted according to APA guidelines with bibliography.
Academic standard formatting: Title page, Times New Roman 12-point font, double-spaced, 1” margins, and page numbers.
Cover/title page should include: an original and relevant title (not “Assignment #1” or “Critical Analysis”) your name and student number, the course code, your TA’s name, and the date the assignment is being submitted. Your bibliography and cover page do not factor into your page count or word count.
