Budget Narrative and Table for Habitat for Humanity, Denton, TX

Create a budget narrative and table for Habitat for Humanity. You may use one of the budget templates listed on the first page of the module. Alternatively, you can create your own budget table in Excel or Word.

Make sure that your budget narrative thoroughly describes the expenses you are requesting and justifies why they are necessary to perform the project/program. Please make sure your narrative is double spaced with 1 inch margins and 12 point font.

I’ve attached all the documents I’ve completed on the Habitat for Humanity in Denton for this course that you can use to help prepare this document (they will say Habitat for Humanity).

I’ve also attached an example of what a budget narrative and table document looks like for reference, as well as the reading material for this module and you can access the online book at

You can use the budget template_assignment 8 document for the table and make it apply to this project and will need to add narrative. See the example file called MoniqueLee Budget as this shows what the assignment should look like.

Assignment Notes & FAQ

A few additional notes on the assignment:
1. This is a master’s level assignment: this is not about finding and then copying down the right answer but rather about you deriving those answers from a range of materials and your own critical thinking. We are not exclusively asking you to remember facts and basic concepts or to demonstrate understanding of the module topics. More importantly, we place emphasis on you applying theory on methodology, analysing the chosen paper using your understanding of methodology, and evaluating the chosen paper and the applicability of your broader knowledge around these topics;
2. We advise you refer to the text book chapters, additional reading and any further references in those chapters/readings to facilitate your wider reading and learning regarding the specific methodologies used in the article you choose to analyse;
3. No examples of the assignment are available because this is the first year this module is taught. In previous years, the Research Methods module was structured and assessed differently;
4. The module outline contains a full brief on the required contents, structure, and criteria for the coursework. Please familiarize yourself with that and ensure you follow those instructions;
5. Make sure you also reference or quote the chosen article following the Harvard Style guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: How do I meet requirement X of the coursework? How do I write section X of the coursework? Etc.
A: As this is what we are marking, you will need to use your knowledge of the topics we covered, do wider reading (see note 2 above) and closely read the coursework brief to devise a good way to meet the requirements and put together the assignment.
Q2: What is the difference between ‘methodological approach’ and ‘research design’?
A2: Research design refers to the specific techniques for the collection and analysis of data (‘methods’ as we discussed in the lectures) while research approach refers to broader methodological choices (so research strategy, philosophy and further considerations informing the approach to research).1. Rhetorical Analysis of a Word/Phrase: Cultural Contexts

Rhetorical Analysis of a Word/Phrase: Cultural Contexts

Purpose- demonstrate a solid understanding of rhetoric and the six rhetorical concepts and how they can be used for a rhetorical analysis through a well composed academic an essay.

Length: 1000 words
Sources: You must include at least one quote from the Rhetoric Theory Lecture material found on Canvas (no more than two). Bibliographic info for each source is found at the end of the page.
You will use NO other outside sources (essays that do so will lose points)

Prompt: For this essay I want you to think of a single word OR phrase that can have multiple meanings depending on the context. You will use that word/phrase as a means to discuss the rhetorical concepts reviewed during class (argument, speaker, audience, medium, platform, and context). You’ll need to include a solid introduction, conclusion, and body paragraphs which will all have smooth transitions that illustrate intentional and logical organization. You will explain what your word/phrase is (briefly), and each of the rhetorical concepts (also briefly). The majority of your essay will focus on how different cultural contexts impact specific interpretations of your word/phrase which you will provide evidence for through the use of hypothetical examples (remember how Dr. C discussed her own example during class).

Research Question: What does rhetorical analysis with a direct focus on cultural contexts specifically suggest about possible interpretations of the word/phrase you chose to discuss in your essay?
Your thesis statement will be the answer to this question

Warnings:
*The word or phrase you choose needs to be something that you are personally familiar with- NOT something you searched for on the internet. So-if/when I ask you about it you need to be able to discuss it with me comfortably without looking at notes.
*Essays that quote or use any type or dictionary or encyclopedia to define any terms (including Wikipedia and dictionary web pages), such as the word/phrase you choose and the rhetorical concepts will be docked 25% no exceptions
*Remember- you are using these rhetorical concepts within an academic setting focused on rhetorical analysis. That means it is important that you rely on information from the class lectures rather than the internet to gain an understanding of them. The internet is often incorrect when it comes to academic terminology.
*Remember the purpose of this essay is to demonstrate your ability to understand rhetoric and use the terms correctly. This is NOT an essay centered around the word/phrase you chose. That word/phrase is merely just a way for you to show off how well you understand the “rhetoric” stuff. Do not get too focused on the word/phrase and leave out the rhetoric- essays that do so will fail.
