Budgeting Comments

Select one of the following quotes from the text to discuss. Clearly state whether you either agree or disagree with the comment and support your opinion with at least one scholarly resource. Include in your response an explanation of the major purposes of budgeting. Your initial post should be 200-250 words.
•”One major criticism of budgeting is that it is used as a ‘cost reduction’ tool rather than a ‘cost control’ tool. The objective of the budget is to control costs at an efficient level of operation.”
•”There are generally three benefits from allowing employees to participate in developing the budget: (1) Employees tend to accept the budget as their own plan of action. (2) Participation tends to increase morale among employees and toward management. (3) Employee cohesiveness is increased, and productivity will also increase if dictated by the group norm.”
•”Even though budgets are quantitative tools, considerable emotion is connected to budgeting. The individual in control often sees the budget as a means of getting things done. People being controlled often have feelings of anxiety because their success and promotion are tied directly to the budget.”

Software ethics and Legal issues: Software liability

This assignment requires research. You must cite the research you do every time you use the words or ideas of others, and include a bibliography of your references at the end of your paper. If you quote directly from a source, be sure to use quotation marks. List your sources as described in the Computer Science Research Guide (click on the “Citations and Style Guides” tab and choose APA) at: http://guides.spsu.edu/computer_science and illustrated in the writing example that you will find in the “Course Resources” section of this course. You may also google APA and find several other sources, including a tool that helps you with your citations. You must have both citations (in the text) and a reference list (at the end). NOTE: YOU MUST USE THE CORRECT APA FORMAT FOR CITATIONS OR REFERENCES TO GET A GRADE ABOVE A B ON THIS AND EVERY ASSIGNMENT.
You may want to do some more research into this and future assignments than just reading the two textbooks. An excellent source for technical research is the ACM digital library at http://portal.acm.org/portal.cfm. You will be able to get access to the articles themselves as well as conference proceedings from any computer with Internet access by using the Hornet Connect system. To access this system, go to https://connect.spsu.edu then login with your SPSU email id and password; after getting into the system select library resources, then ACM digital library, which will give you access to all ACM resources. Note also that anything that appears in Communications of the ACM is also available in the SPSU library. You may search online or in the library. You can also access all the library holdings in the stare of Georgia via the library resources link. Another good source of scientific literature is Cite Seer: http://citeseer.ist.psu.edu/cs. (In a few cases, Cite Seer may point you to sites that charge for downloading material; don’t do it. You aren’t expected to pay for access to research materials.)

One of our course outcomes is to “appraise liabilities and legal consequences of negligence regarding software patents and copyright issues by software engineers.” For this assignment, I want you to explore the issues of negligence in the software engineering life cycle and explore the liabilities we have as software engineers. Consider the following questions when formulating your essay, but you do not have to “answer” each question. Instead use the questions as guidelines to help you think about the problem.
Should software companies be liable for software failures?
What is the definition of negligence with respect to software development?
What ethical responsibilities do software engineers have to users? What can be done to mitigate the risk of negligence liability?
Try to find one example of negligence (not Therac) to explore in this context.
Please limit your essay to no more than TWO double-spaced pages for the entire assignment. READ THIS AS: NO MORE THAN 3 Pages, including the reference list. I will not grade this based on weight, but rather am looking for well-written, well-thought-out ideas that demonstrate a thorough analysis of the concepts. Really — more is not always better.

Note: Please use Textbook as one of the references. I will email you the PDF when I have your email address because the tablet doesn’t allow me to download the file.

Life is Beautiful (MOVIE)

(NOTE: I have to make it sound like I’m connecting events in the movie to what I learned in class)
Movie Review Assignment Sheet and Grading Rubric
Overview: History is a craft and writing is the craft of the historian. It is the medium that
any historian must use to disseminate interpretations of the past to the public and fellow
historians. In many ways the historian is much like a detective; gathering and evaluating
evidence, forming hypothesis and drawing conclusions in order to find out who done it.
History is not memorizing facts, dates and people; it is how the historian analyzes and
interprets information. Film is history, it is a primary source that can be analyzed and
interpreted, and the film does not have to be about an historical event.
Description: A film/ documentary analysis is not a review or summary of the plot, it
should go deeper into analysis and reaction. It should discuss the issues raised by the
film, address the film’s importance and purpose, state reactions to the content and
quality of the film, and connect it to ideas and material presented in class. It should be a
minimum of 2 pages and include the following (in any order you choose).
Procedure:
 Describe the film/ documentary in general terms. What subjects does it cover?
Describe the plot and setting. What issues does it raise? What do you see as the
main purpose of the film?
 What are the major theme(s) of the film/ documentary?
 Evaluate the film for quality and interest. Comment on the screenplay, acting,
direction, production values and music. Are any literary techniques such as
symbolism, character development and foreshadowing used?
 Relate the film to class discussions, readings, notes or knowledge. Is the film
historically (or factually) accurate and realistic? Does it contradict or support
anything you have learned?
 Summarize briefly emphasizing the strengths and weaknesses of the film.
Requirements:
 Papers should be at least two pages in length, and should be typed, double
spaced with a 12 pt. font.
 All pages must have appropriately 1” margins.

Aim for 100-150 words. Be sure to include the title and/or link to the story you read in your answer.Aim for 100-150 words. In my Foundations of renal nursing we did a discussion with our class mates on chronic kidney disease i will send these through now we have to an analysis to show our learning this is what the lecturer said “the summary should be more analysis than reflection. You can certainly refer to your online posts for specific points. It is also fine to go further on any topic to show additional learning gained through study as well as discussions.

For example: A group mate discussed the pathophys of xx and the topic was explored by another student who looked at signs and symptoms etc. As no-one expanded on the zzz involved in management during discussions I read further and discovered the key aims are ……. You may not have an appendix, however you are still demonstrating your new knowledge and understanding.

Please don’t go over all the info from your posts in your summary. As you suggest; you can refer briefly to a post and write (see appendix 1). It will be important to highlight some specific detail that helps demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
When summarising a topic that another student started you definitely don’t need to give all the patho – simply state student xy detailed the patho of SLE showing how the xxxx of the renal system is the key part involved (ref – your own not theirs). I explored SLE from the perspective of …. (see appendix 2). ”
As you can see my discussions are under Bec Paterson
