psychology of language

The post will be written as a formal essay. Your essay will be specifically related to a theory of speech production (chapter 4 in the textbook). You will have a thesis statement supporting one of the theories. Please see the videos provided by the professor in the announcements if you do not know how to write a formal essay and need to understand the main components. Any information that is not general knowledge, that you obtained from a source, you are required to cite (in any format) in order to avoid plagiarism. For example, “According to the textbook…” or “Ludden et al., (2015) stated that…”. This means you will likely be citing a source at least every paragraph. You are required to put citations from your textbook and each of your articles within your paper at least one time according to any format. You are required to include your textbook and articles in a reference section at the back of your paper in any format. You will have the following headings; Introduction, Literature Review, Discussion, Conclusion, Reference Section (you can include your own subheadings if you like, under these headings).

Write a formal essay paper supporting one theory of speech production. **Put ALL of the information below into a single essay. Do not write a short paper and then answer these questions separately outside of the paper.**
Include, in your paper above, a definition of the “Dual Stream Model” explain the “ventral” and “dorsal” stream.
Describe 2 examples of evidence that support DSM within your essay above.
Include a definition of the “DIVA Model” explain feedforward and feedback control systems within your essay above
Describe 2 examples of evidence that support DIVA within your essay above.

Taxation

Each week, you will be asked to respond to the prompt or prompts in the discussion forum. Your initial post should be 75-150 words in length, and is due on Sunday. By Tuesday, you should respond to two additional posts from your peers.

Four property questions to be addressed for income tax are:

Is there a realized gain or loss?
If so, is the realized gain or loss recognized?
If the realized gain or loss is recognized, is it classified as ordinary or capital?
What is the basis of replacement property, if any, that is acquired?
Consider the following scenario: Ian invests in land and Jen invests in taxable bonds. The land appreciates by $8,000 each year, and the bonds earn interest of $8,000 each year. After holding the land and bonds for five year, Ian and Jen sell them. There is a $40,000 realized gain on the sale of the land, and no realized gain or loss on the sale of the bonds.

Are the tax consequences to Ian and Jen the same for each of the five years? Explain.

In Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, why did Dr. Jekyll go to such great lengths to protect Mr. Hyde? And go beyond the more obvious response that Hyde is actually a part of Jekyll, so he must protect him in order to protect himself. Jekyll seems to be protective of and obsessed with Hyde even beyond all of that. Is Stevenson making any sort of commentary on society by depicting Dr. Jekyll as being so obsessed with Mr. Hyde?

Please write a critical response based on this question. Your paper should be 2-3 pages long (meaning at least 2 full pages), double-spaced, with 1” margins using Times New Roman 12 point font, and it should conform to the Critical Response Papers Rubric handed out in class and also available on Blackboard. You must also use at least 4 direct quotations from the novel to support the claims that you make in your paper, cited with parenthetical references in correct MLA format “like this” (Stevenson 17).

TEAM DEVELOPMENT SESSION 2

For this assessment, submit your second team exercise plan and post-session summary based on your completed team session.

Preparation
If you have not already done so, contact your team members to schedule your second team development session. Remind your team members of your task and how you will use the information from the session. You should also remind them that you will protect their personal information and their identities.

Plan your team exercise and write a team development plan for your second session. Your exercise for this session should be based on one of the following two disciplines identified by Senge:

Team learning.
Systems thinking.
Facilitate the second team development session, addressing the following:

Define the remaining two disciplines: team learning and systems thinking.
Explain the learning discipline you have chosen and why it is important.
Explain how you will use the organizational team development material (the exercise) during the session.
Briefly introduce the problem or issue the team will work through, using the exercise.
While conducting the exercise, take copious notes. Record the session, if possible.
Directions
Write a post-session summary based on the completed experience. Include the following:

Explain the two learning disciplines that you examined for this assessment: team learning and systems thinking.
Team exercise plan:
Outline the schedule for your second team development session. Include the job titles or roles of the team members participating in the session. List the scheduled meeting date and time.
Describe the problem or issue you chose as the intended purpose for your team development session.
Identify the learning discipline that you chose to focus on for your team exercise. Explain the process used to select that learning discipline, the rationale for its selection, and the team development exercise that you used with your team.
Post-session summary:
Describe your team development experience in a narrative format.
Explain the successful and unsuccessful aspects of the team development exercise.
Explain the lessons learned for team facilitation, including both planned and unplanned journeys that resulted.
Explain the lessons learned for your chosen discipline, and its potential for helping a group examine itself, choose new direction, and commit to that direction.

Nuances in history

For the final paper, you will combine paper #1 and #2 (as parts I and II—be sure to incorporate my comments from your returned papers) with the final paper/section: from the conclusions of Paper #2, add in the theoretical and methodological nuances from weeks 8 through 15. In essence, you’ll be adding in how history interacts with: structure and agency, hidden transcripts, the longue durée and hegemony, power and knowledge, gender, race, sexuality, and postcolonial theory. Do these concepts help address the various paradoxes of Trouillot? How do these concepts interact with Patterson and Popkin? How did the era of decolonization, civil rights, and women’s rights help alter the assumptions of the discipline of history? The final paper (including Paper #1 and #2 should be 15 pages in length, double-spaced, 12-font, Chicago Style citations (with page numbers).

Violence Associated with Illegal Narcotics

Instructions: The final project will include a minimum of 15 complete pages of content excluding (which are needed) the cover page, abstract, table of contents, any and all quotes, charts, and reference section. Again, pls know that any and all quotes do not count toward the minimum # of pages
APA 6th edition must be followed with the formulation of the paper. Double spaced, Times New Roman, 12-inch font, with 1″ margins all around. The use of larger fonts, more than just double spacing, or larger than 1″ margins will result in significant penalties
The final project is to be written in an academic tone. You are not to write in the first person. Instead, you need to use the third person. Remember, an academic paper is not to be written like you are having a casual conversation with your friends.

One Art by Elizabeth Bishop

1. Be written in third person objective.
2. Be properly formatted, cited, and documented using MLA conventions. This includes in-text citations!
3. All grammar and spelling errors should be fixed by your final draft.

4. Have a clear thesis and strong supporting evidence.
5. Use a minimum of 3 sources.
6. Any claim you make should be supported either with evidence from the text of the poem(lines should be cited), and/or backed up by a secondary source.

7. The body of your paper must follow the order of your thesis statement.
8. Your paper must look at not only WHAT the author is saying, but HOW the author is saying it. This will be the focus of your thesis statement. This paper must discuss the figurative meaning of the poem, as well as the technical aspects that add to the figurative meaning. For example, is it the form of the poem that adds to the meaning? Is there a certain type of imagery or metaphor throughout the poem(such as metaphors/imagery with household objects, nature, etc.)?
9. Your conclusion should restate your strongest points, and the significance they add to your paper. The “So What?” question should be in mind throughout your paper.
