Personal Problems At Work Discussion Prompt

There is increasing pressure on organizations to allow employees’ personal problems to be brought to the attention of the supervisor or manager. Personal problems that can disrupt people’s lives include dealing with a teenager on drugs, coping with the needs of a sick parent, losing a babysitter, or getting a divorce. Reflect on these questions:

1) Do you assume the role of mentor and counselor when an employee brings a personal problem to your attention?
2) Should you give the person with a serious problem some special consideration, such as time off, less demanding work, or professional help that is paid for by the company?

It is an assigned topic. See the subject assignments on the last page.

You are to create a PowerPoint Presentation (75%) and a video (25%).

You will be given either a Pioneer in the Computer/IT field or an object that has evolved technologically through the years.

PIONEERS
If assigned a pioneer, tell me about this person. What did this person do to become a pioneer? What is the person doing now? What has this person accomplished? Be thorough with the subject.

SUBJECT
If assigned an object tell me how this object has evolved through the years. Tell me how it started and where it is now. Tell me how it has changed, improved and possibly where we might go in the future with this object. Be sure to be true to the subject and don’t go off topic.

For example, MUSIC: Tell me how we’ve come to the digital recordings or digital instruments. I don’t need to know about a specific GENRE like Rock or Classical music.

Below are the criteria for the PowerPoint Presentation and the Video

PowerPoint Criteria

For the PowerPoint you must:
• Research your subject
• Find photographs

• Your Presentation should not be your entire research assignment.

• Use the NOTES Pages underneath each slide to include some information you are going to talk about if/when presenting in front of an audience.

• Be sure to include a slide transition
o Use the same transition throughout the presentation
o DO NOT make the slides change automatically
• Insert a Footer with Your Name and your Student ID number on all slides except the title slide
• Be sure to submit a PowerPoint Presentation and not a Slide Show. (Be careful on how you save it!)
o DO NOT make the slides change automatically
o The Presentation MUST have a minimum of 15 slides.
 Slide 1: Title
 Slides 2 – 14: Presentation
 Slide 15: Work Cited, Links, Video Link and resources
o INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR VIDEO (see below)
• DO NOT embed your video in the presentation
o

You will need to go to the Animoto website (click the link) and sign-up for a free account. There are multiple video samples and tutorials on how to use the site. There is a limit of 30 seconds for the video. You MUST use up the entire 30 seconds for your video. You may go over the 30 seconds by up to 10 seconds.

Your video is NOT a copy of your PowerPoint Presentation.

• You MUST include a picture of yourself either at the beginning (after the title) or at the very end
• You MUST include your works cited and resource links
• You must include a song(s)

Im from Kuwait and this opportunity is once In a life time because in Kuwait we lack the research facilities and it is very hard to do it there and I want to be an example for the incoming Kuwati students that we can be an example that might transfer this program in Kuwait. I don’t have a formal research experience, and this is fine with them but I have done two academic research in my undergrad years at umkc when I got my B.S Biology from there. The first one is a literature review about how diet affect the muscle of mastication through evolution (I will attach the paper as refrence). The second one was a group research in ecology lab and I will attach that one too. I will attach my personal statement that I sent when I apply for the dental school as well to have an idea about my strength and weakness

Certification, Licensure, and Scope of Practice

To prepare:
• Consider the differences in certification exams options for your specialty
• Consider whether primary care NP graduates are qualified to seek employment in acute care settings such as ER, OR, or hospitalist/intensivist
• Review and select one of the following case studies to research in depth:

o Case Study One: Selecting the Certification Exam for your specialty.
Mary is in the last two months of her program of study. She is trying to decide whether to take the American Association of Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Exam or the American Nurses
o Credentialing Exam.

o Case Study Two: Obtaining initial licensure post matriculation.
Amy, FNP-BC has recently graduated from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She decides to relocate from her home state of Tennessee to Missouri and practice in a rural area. She is very excited about her new role and new position.
By Day 3
Post the National Certification Exam you plan to take, a brief explanation for why you chose this exam, and an outline of your plan for passing the National Certification Exam you selected. Then, provide an explanation of the professional and/or clinical practice issues the new Nurse Practitioner will need to consider and address with the certification, licensure, credentialing, or relocation process. Compare Scope of Practice between the Acute Care, Family Practice, and Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and how practice may differ from state to state. Then, identify and explain at least two types of settings that are appropriate for FNP and AGPCNP graduates to practice.
