LISC

Assignment 2

RED 8030—LISC

Type your answers to proposed questions. Also please give web links to your local org as well as the project you looked at.

You will have to go beyond the simple LISC website to get all the information.

For this assignment, you are to take an in depth look at LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) which is a major vehicle community development and affordable housing in may communities throughout the US (http://www.lisc.org). LISC works closely with the community, government, and developers to make their communities stronger. This is a three-part assignment:

Part 1: You are to examine the LISC website and describe what their Mission Statement is.

Secondly how they promote Affordable Housing: Priorities, Products and Services,

Veteran Housing, National Equity Fund, Housing Stabilization Fund, Community

Development Trust, etc.

Part 2: Pick one local community LISC organization and tell me their Mission, how they impact

the community, and how they work with developers.

Part 3: Pick one affordable housing or community development project that your (the one you

picked to look at in Part 2) local chapter was involved in. Tell me about that project: what

was it, who was involved; who did it look to help; who were the partners; was there a public private partnership  (p3)

component and if so what was the private sector’s role in it; and what were the outcomes

to the community.

Maximize Wealth

Conduct your own research on how to maximize wealth. Also read the article posted to the Announcement section of World Class titled, “How To Invest In Businesses With Hidden Value Assets”. Other articles related to finding hidden value are posted to Announcements. Start your analysis using your primary company’s GAAP balance sheet assets but then start thinking about how several of the asset line items might contain significant hidden value. This is a critical thinking discussion that requires you to think out of the box.
Requirements include:
1. Evaluate the GAAP assets listed in the SEC.gov 10K for your primary company. If you are using a privately held company or non-profit, you are more than welcome to use a publicly traded company of your choice to conduct your research. Just make sure to explain why you selected the company.
2. The 10K Notes to Financials will likely discuss your primary company’s GAAP assets that will allow you to focus on AT LEAST TWO line items. However, you must guess potential hidden value by using your research. There are many online tools that can assist you in finding guesstimate asset values on a balance sheet.
3. Of all the assets contained in your company’s balance sheet, select two and explain the current base GAAP value. At this point, apply the lessons learned from your readings to provide and support the guesstimate hidden value for each asset. If you use the WAG (Wild A** Guess) approach, you will need to provide enough reasons to justify the valuations. That guess will not come from the 10K balances or notes, just your critical thinking, business knowledge, and research.

Understanding systems development

You work for an IT Consultancy that has been shortlisted by a Consortium of upmarket restaurants in the Leeds and Bradford area to deliver an IT system that will support a proposed new revolutionary delivery and fine dining service. This will take the “JustEats” concept for takeaways to a new level; providing a solution that not only delivers food, but offers the high quality of cuisine, service and presentation expected from a top class restaurant.

The target market is home dinner parties to family, group and corporate events of up to 100 people. A fleet of custom made vans and specially trained delivery drivers / waiters using world beating technology will ensure the food arrives on-time, as ordered and matches the quality as if served straight from the kitchen of the restaurant, hot or cold.

At a high level the IT requirements are to provide a robust, easy to use system that:

Restaurants can register, logon and specify their details including cuisine type and menu items.
Customers / Clients can register, logon, specify their details including address, then place, confirm and pay for their orders.
Manages the logistics of the cooking and delivery process including the allocation of drivers / waiters.
Note that the current scope of this project is broad and will need to be refined and agreed with specific functionality prioritised.

You have just joined the team that is shortlisted for the contract to initiate, define and deliver the IT system to support the broader remit of the initiative.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders Of the Lost Ark (1981)

Please write your Midterm Essay thesis statement and begin creating an outline.

Midterm Essay

The Wizard Of Oz (1939)
Casablanca (1941)
The Bridge Over The River Kwai (1957)
My Fair Lady (1964)
Star Wars IV: A New Hope (1977)
Indiana Jones and the Raiders Of the Lost Ark (1981)
Toy Story I (1995)
Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone (2001)
Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)
Select and watch one film from the proceeding list.

Write a 2,250-word essay in which you locate Jungian archetypes: the self, the ego, the shadow, the persona, the anima/animus, the hero, and the pattern of the hero’s journey.

This essay is not about the film, as much as it is about Jungian archetypes. Feel free to incorporate anything else we covered in the first half of the semester (Modules 1–6) if those ideas come up in viewing the film.

I know these films very well, so I do not want a synopsis. Instead, write about archetypal concepts and how those concepts relate to the film. What archetypes do the characters in the film represent? What do they tell you about the human psyche?

For instance, how is the shadow archetype represented and how does it operate? What is its relationship to other archetypes in the film, like the relationship between the hero (ego) and the villain (shadow)? If there is more than one shadow, or more than one hero, how do these character differ and why are they necessary.

Does the plot follow the hero’s journey perfectly or are there differences? If there are places where the plot veers away from the hero’s journey, what changes about the storyline or archetypes?

Your Midterm Essay should have three parts:

Introduction with theses
A body with well constructed paragraphs linking one to another
A conclusion in which you make your point
Purpose
To finalize your thesis and begin working on the structure of the Midterm Essay. This essay will demonstrate your understanding of Jungian archetypes and practice identifying those archetypes in popular culture. Use critical thinking skills.

Tools
Word-processing software (MS Word, Google Docs, etc.)
Due Date
This exercise is due at the end of this module. The Midterm Essay is due by the end of Module 7, at the same time as your Midterm Exam.

Bipolar 1 Disorder

1. Make a literature review of bipolar disorder 1 using 4-5 case studies from journals, books, or videos. Choose two therapeutic methods that were used to solve the problem. In this case: Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy.

2. Find empirical studies which show how bipolar 1 was treated by these therapies and which school of psychology was used (humanistic or psychoanalytic, ect.) Describe the treatment method used and the therapeutic approach and list observations.

Latest revision commentA new writer should:
– rewrite all the case studies from scratch, you need to search for the case studies directly as primary sources and review them, not retell, but evaluate.
– the second section of the paper should be more focused on the treatment itself.
– eliminate plagiarism (check OR).
