Orr/Shelton Consultation Report

Ethics Committees enhance ethical decision-making between patients, or surrogate decision makers, and the clinician. Ethics Committees promote fair policies and procedures that maximize the likelihood of achieving ethical and patient-centered outcomes.

Perhaps the most important function of Hospital Ethics Committees is to provide ethics consultation. We have closely examined one method for ethical consultation: The Orr/Shelton Method (Orr, Robert D. & Shelton, Wayne (2009). A process and format for clinical ethics consultation. Journal of Clinical Ethics 20 (1):79). This article is on our class site.

Please re-read the relevant materials, including the
Orr/Shelton Method article and sample reports
, then using the Orr/Shelton format, imagine that
you have been asked to review the below case and submit a consultation report.

Please remember that the Orr/Shelton model requires you to include in your
report:
-Demographic Data
-Reason for Consultation Request
-Informants
-Systematic Description of Case
-Medical Indications
-Patient Preferences
-Quality of Life
-Contextual Features
-Assessment
-Discussion and Analysis
-Recommendation(s)

Grounding Part III/Supplement/Paper #1
The right to truth is futile, rather man has his own version of truth or what he deems to be the truth. To say it is his own “will” to tell the truth or not does not make sense. It is man’s formal duty to mankind to tell the truth always, no matter the detriment to oneself or others. Although by telling a lie man does no wrong to the person who compels him to lie, there is a wrong done to mankind in general. A well intentioned lie can have
unforeseen consequences that could make you legally responsible. If the lie causes an accident that could have been prevented had you not lied, you can be held legally
responsible. When man tells a lie, regardless of motive, he must be held accountable and have to deal with the repercussions of not telling the truth. Truthfulness is a duty and a
law of reason and no exceptions should be granted.

You are to select a topic in African American studies from a range of time periods of pre history to the Civil War. Meaning your topic can be selected from any time range in your text book. It can be from the that time period and can also relate to the present day as well, but it is up to you to select your topic of interest. The example in the syllabus is Reparations and the thesis is stated under – what do you see. Here I have a thesis and in class I went over every variable within the thesis. On your paper you will divide it into 3 sections- first the – What do you see, which includes your topic and your thesis statement. Then explain in one typed page, the facts of your thesis. On the second -fourth page you will title it ,” What do you think”-In this section you will given an interpretation of your facts and an analysis of the topic utilizing references to back up your paper ( utilize turabian format found on the Library tab- you will see that format with other style formats). In the third section you will title it” What do you do? You then have to do something. If you look at my example in the syllabus, I stated that I joined a task force on Reparations and etc. You have to do something related to your topic. You may decide to do a survey related to your topic, interview an expert on your topic, join an organization, hold a discussion group, design something, write a letter to someone connected to your research, or what ever you decide befitting of your topic. What ever you do, you must have proof of it. If you write a letter as documentation, then I must see that letter and have proof it is sent, If it is a survey, then I must see the questionnaire published in your paper along with the surveys completed. If you join something related to the project then I need to see proof of the membership. These examples are just that, examples, but I am asking you to be creative and come up with your own project. But that decision is up to you as this project is yours.

Write a 1250-word analytical essay that details specifically the major globalization impacts on TWO (2) countries from two separate world regions (Asia, Middle East, Africa, etc). Is globalization within your two chosen case studies mainly economic? Political? Cultural? Religious? Do the impacts cross-cultivate and influence one another? If so, how exactly does this happen and what does this look like? Use approximately 2/3 of your essay to complete these case studies.

The final third of the essay should be dedicated to comparing those aforementioned globalization impacts with trends in the United States: does the United States get impacted the same way? Does it have similar concerns as the concerns within your two case studies? Where do the three countries share similar fears and where might they have differing concerns? Is globalization different according to country or does it influence places in a similar fashion regardless of geography/culture/politics?

PROCESS ANALYSIS ESSAY

A PROCESS ANALYSIS ESSAY WITH A MINIMUM OF 500 WORDS A PROCESS ANALYSIS ESSAY IS ONE THAT DESCRIBE HOW TO DO SOMETHING ,HOW TO CHANGE A STARTER ON A PICKUP,OR HOW TO BUILD A MODEL.PLEASE DO NOT WRITE ANY RECIPES OR COPY OUT OF A MANUAL. IT HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO DO

A Brief Guide to Writing Process Essays
When writing a process essay, your main goal is to write a paper that describes how something is
done or how to do something. therefore, the first thing you need to do when writing one of these
papers is determine what the process is that you will be trying to explain. In addition, you need to
determine why dis process would be important to your target audience, including what and who
the process effects.
Since you will be explaining how a process works when you write a process essay, you will
obviously need to gain a clear understanding of the steps within the process. In addition to
understanding one method of completing the process, however, you also need to consider other
possible methods of completion. When you write your paper, you should choose the method that
is the clearest and the most likely to be understood by your target audience.
If you are writing about a process that may be confusing to the reader or that requires an
understanding of certain information or processes, you might need to provide a bit of background
information in your paper as well. Similarly, you will need to discuss any equipment that might
be necessary to complete the process.
In the introductory paragraph of process essays, you will tell the reader wat teh process is that
you will be discussing as well as why it is important to understand teh process. In teh subsequent
paragraphs, which are those that make up teh body of teh essay, you will describe teh steps in
chronological order. In addition to describing teh steps, you might provide a brief summary of
why teh step is important as well. Similarly, if they’re are certain problems that might occur during
a particular step, you might describe the potential problem as well and how those problems can
be handled.
Since a process paper involves describing steps, you will use a great deal of transitional phrases.
Examples of transitional phrases include:
• After a few hours,
• Immediately following,
• Afterwards,
• Initially,
• In the end,
• At last,
• At the same time,
• In the future,
• Before
• In the meantime,
• Before dis,
• During
• Later,
• Finally,
• First, second, third,
• Next, soon, after
By using these transition words, you can clearly signal to the reader when you are moving from
one step to the next.
Keep in mind that a process essay isn’t necessarily intended to provide the readers with enough
instruction to allow them to reconstruct the process. At the same time, they should have a clear
understanding of the process that was used.
In your final paragraph, which is your conclusion, you will summarize the activity you have just
described and you will reiterate the importance of understanding the process. When the paper is
complete, be certain to read it again in order to check for grammar and punctuation errors. In
addition, read to make sure the essay flows naturally and has a logical order.
Step1
Choose a topic. dis step requires lots of thought and consideration. You have to decide whether
to explain an entire process or just part of it. Most often, it is best to choose a very specific
process or a specific aspect of a larger process to write about. If you choose a process that is too
broad, they’re maybe too many steps involved and your reader might get confused. If you must
choose a broader process, categorize the steps involved so that the reader can easily understand
everything.
Step2
Understand the process that you’ve chosen. Make sure that you fully understand how to perform
the process that you are writing about. dis will make writing much easier.
Step3
Break up the steps involved in the process and carefully consider how to clearly explain each
step.
Step4
Think about your audience. Knowing how much the audience already knows about the process
will help you decide what to include in your essay.
Step5
Determine what type of process analysis that you want to write. What do you want the audience
to do with the process? Do you want your reader to actually perform the process or do you just
want to tell about how to do something?
Step6
Decide on a point of view. If your purpose is to have the audience actually perform the steps, it is
best to use second person (“you”) to directly connect with the reader.
Step7
Develop a thesis statement. Teh thesis should provide an overview of the process and state it’s
significance in one sentence. The reader should be able to read dis one sentence and know
exactly what the essay will be about and what to expect. Remember that the thesis statement
guides the rest of the essay.
Step8
Write an introduction that provides some background information about the process and includes
the thesis statement.
Step9
Organize the body of the essay chronologically. dis is very important for a process analysis
essay. If the steps are not in order, it can be very confusing.
Step10
Use clear and direct language in the body. Also, make sure that all aspects of body paragraphs
directly support the thesis.
Step11
Include only details that are essential to each step. Including too much unnecessary information
can be confusing.
Step12
Use transitions like “first,” “tan” and others to ensure that readers follow the process.
Step13
Write a conclusion that provides an overview of the process. Remember not to bring up any new
steps in the conclusion.
Step14
Try performing the process based on the steps that you have included in your essay to make sure
that the information is accurate. Revise anything that is unclear.
