The Final Portfolio Assignment is where you pull together the research you’ve been working on the first seven weeks of class. Using your weekly Forum posts, and the feedback from your classmates and instructor on your posts, construct a 6-8 page paper that fully explores your research topic in a way that provides the context and explanation surrounding the analyses provided in the paper. Your professor is looking to see whether you understand what you are writing about, not simply going through the motions.

One of the most crucial components of this course is developing a research project from conceptualizing a research problem and develop a number of complementary design, measurement, and data collection approaches to bring evidence to bear on the problem. Throughout the class, you created a research study based on publicly available data from the General Social Survey (GSS). You chose data which were representative of your interests and satisfied your research question and hypotheses.
This Assignment meets these course objectives:
1. Describe and apply the concepts and logic of elementary statistics.
2. Conduct statistical analysis in SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences).
3. Compare and contrast different types of data and the statistics that can be used to analyze them
4. Examine the differences between descriptive and inferential statistics and their use in the social sciences.
5. Form critical interpretations of quantitative research literature in sociology and other social sciences.
6. Complete and interpret descriptive and inferential statistical data analysis
7. Critically evaluate the quality of research design and evidence in published social research.

Citing literature about your research topic, be sure to set the stage for the data and analyses that you present. Briefly describe the General Social Survey as your survey instrument. Provide the questions, verbatim, that were asked in the survey which became the variable which you chose to use. You will also need to include the answer choices for each of them. This portion can be a table if you choose. Clearly identify and explain your hypothesis and the five steps of hypothesis testing as they apply to your paper. Share and explain frequency table(s), crosstabs, and histograms or graphing to describe your data. Using the statistical tests you ran each week in class (correlation, t-test, etc.), present the tests and your findings. Explain the results of the statistical tests and pull in some literature to provide context, demonstrating how your results and research fit into the larger body of literature on this topic. Be sure to use proper APA formatting for citations and references. However, you do not need to include an abstract or table of contents. You can find guidance in APA by clicking here to access the Purdue Online Writing Lab.

Instrumentation

In this proposed study, the tools will use to gather data are include an achievement test, a attitude Through TIMESS survey .
According to Creswell (2015), the survey instrument is defined as a tool in quantitative research in which investigators administer to group of people to articulate their perception, feeling about the research problem. The researcher will adopt an existing survey instrument developed by Davis (1989). The survey items for this proposed study will be based on Davis’s original work with slight modifications of items to fit the proposed study. The researcher received Davis’s permission to use the survey instrument to conduct the study (see Appendix A). Davis (1989) developed an instrument using five-point Likert items (Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree, Strongly Disagree), where each item is an indicator of an individual’s behavioral intention regarding perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The adopted survey will consist of a 24-item tool. The TAM survey instrument measures the users’ behavioral intention to use webinars. In this study, the perceived usefulness construct has 7 items, ease of use construct has 5 items, and the behavioral intention construct has 4 items. This survey will be administered via the web to the faculty members at the IPA (See Appendix C). In addition, the survey will include a section to collect participants’ demographic information such as gender, age, educational level, and years of experience.
Validity evidence of the TAM instrument is essential to make sure the items in each construct will measure what it is intended to measure. The TAM survey instrument intended to study the acceptance of new technology. One way to examine validity evidence about an instrument is to explore previous studies that have used the TAM survey instrument in their studies. The TAM instrument was applied in many studies and has been shown to have good scored validity in measuring users’ behavioral intention to determine actual systems use (Abu-Dalbouh, 2013; Ahmed & Ahlan, 2015; Malik et al., 2015; Park, 2009).
The TAM survey instrument has demonstrated evidence of high reliability and validity, not only in the original work but also in other studies utilizing it (see Abu-Dalbouh, 2013). For instance, Park in an investigation on e-learning usage successfully utilized the model (2009). The study attained Cronbach alpha values that ranged from 0.86 to 0.97 in various categories. The reliability of ease of use was 0.92 and the reliability was 0.97 for perceived usefulness. As a result, validity range for convergent and discriminant were acceptable (Davis, 1989).
Research that analyzed the e-learning behavior among the learners utilizing the TAM model yielded equivalently good reliability and validity evidence. Perceived ease of use and usefulness attained a Cronbach alpha of 0.93 and 0.88, respectively (Park, 2009). Correlation values for the study were an average of r = 0.644 when correlated to the constructs, which according to Park (2009) were within the acceptable range. Besides, additional research conducted by Ahmed and Ahlan (2015), utilized the TAM model to investigate perception of using online services. The study attained a high reliability with a Cronbach alpha value of 0.947. The study had a Cronbach alpha of 0.842 for Perceived usefulness and a Cronbach alpha of 0.929 for perceived ease of use (Ahmed and Ahlan, 2015). Validity evidence also has been established by different researchers who have used it with different samples and in different cultures. According to Park (2009), high reliability and validity evidence for the original tool as well as secondary tools enhance its applicability among other researchers. However, reliability and validity exist as properties of data within a particular context, thus a pilot study will be conducted with (N = 20) participants. There will be some necessary changes to the instrument after the pilot study, and any applicable required changes will be made depending on the findings of the pilot study.

Mandatory minimum sentencing

Essay Assignment #1 Assignment-

David Simon, Director of “The Wire” stated in the video “The House I Live In” that the war against drugs has been the probelm, not the drugs itself.  He is emphasizing the intense controversy around the implimentation of laws and policies to tackle the drug problem in America. One such example of the war on drugs has been mandatory minimum sentencing.  What is mandatory minimum sentencing?  What are at least five effects of mandatory minimum sentencing on communities accross America?  Why did we originally switch to this model to counteract the drug emidemic?

Please answer the above question in a 3 page minimum essay.  You must use quotes and examples from the video. We will be watching the video in class, however if you want to get ahead on this essay, “The House I Live In” is available on in the week 7 and 8 folder. Understanding the Firm through Management and Organizational Theory

Overview
Each residency will involve several readings, required and optional. It is important that all students read all required readings and skim through the optional ones. To enable a quality class discussion and ensure strong participation, students will write a critique of the two assigned readings for each module (morning and afternoon). This will take the form of a paragraph discussion that each student will write for each article and be ready to discuss during the Residency. The goal of these three assignments is to describe and critically analyze the assigned scholarly articles. Format
Please organize your overall article critique into a coherent write-up with the following structure (please note that this is merely a suggestive structure and you can use your own personal style):
Overview and Summary of each article (one paragraph each, about half a page each)
Overview (about 1-2 sentences): Please provide an overview of the article’s purpose and main argument and describe the article’s strengths and weaknesses.
Key Findings (3-5 sentences): In this section, please review the article’s key points, analyze the article’s strengths and weaknesses, outline the various theoretical perspectives discussed in the article, and explain the main conclusions.
Assessment (2-4 sentences): In this section, please discuss some of the following issues:
 What are the specific research questions being addressed
 Is there an underlying theory that motivates the article
o Are the authors using data to test a hypothesis; if so, what is the hypothesis
o What kind of data does the author(s) use, and where did they come from
o What concepts are included in the article; of particular importance, note those concepts that are the independent and dependent variables and how they are conceptually defined.
o Does the article make the relationships among any variables explicit or place the variables within a theoretical/conceptual framework; what are the key relationships?
o What gaps or conflicts in knowledge of the problem are identified? Conclusion (about 1-2 sentences): Please present the article’s overall value and describe the article’s key theoretical and practical implications.

My draft is extra rough, but I would love some opinions I spent like 3 hours on this. My thesis is Mobile security is the best thing to stay updated on.

Mobile security is the best thing to stay update on because stealing of electronic device is becoming a higher rate every year. More people don’t know the dangers of not having passwords and securing your devices. For example, I had the iPhone 6s Plus 2 years ago and I had accidentally put my phone down to pay for my food and someone came by and swiped it and ran. You can understand my frustration on my face because having a phone is something now in the day in age you need constantly, or you feel some type of disconnection to the world. So luckily you normally have a basic password on your phone and that’s security but having one on your files and sensitive information protected is more important which leads me to my next explanation.

Having passwords like with banking information protecting files with sensitive data is important because hacking of data holding information, hackers can open accounts in your name, and buy items, etc. Having files accessible form anywhere is important currently because most of the information stored in devices contain personal, professional, or even sensitive data that is lost can lower your overall productivity. But you know that nine time out of ten you know that people will have some type of verification method but, yet people still steal knowing this. You will get an explanation leading to helpful steps in that situation.

When you are in a situation where an electronic is stolen despite the password being on the device there is some preliminary things to make a situation easier. For one it would be wise to get an external tracker that is accessible on all devices. Also, its best to have all the information backed up to a cloud of some sort. For example, like Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, or even Dropbox are great way ways to store information whether its pictures, files, or documents. Once the situation occurs you want to make sure depending the phone you can lock it remotely or even erase all the contents on your phone remotely. Erasing content off your phone remotely come in handy because even if their hacker could someday still get into your device your information isn’t on there. But lastly, I just wanted to state how important it is to keep yourself updated on mobile security because there is so many new products of ways to stay secured. Keep this in mind you can protect yourself from hacking all you want but you can really avoid being stolen from.
