Issues surrounding unfounded allegations of IPV (intimate partner violence) or child maltreatment or sibling abuse or elder abuse, etc.
Position paper:
-Frame both sides.
-Make an argument. two sides, but pick one side.
Proposal: Position paper (5%)
The purpose of this task is to get students to think about what your position paper will be about. It is to get students thinking about the current controversial issues that exist. Papers should be a minimum of two (2) pages of text, excluding, references, the proposed reading list, the title page and any appendixes if needed. Proposals must clearly outline what the issue is and what the two sides of that issue are. Each proposal must have a reference page to identify the evidence you have used in your proposal and a Proposed Reading List outlining a minimum 10 refereed journal articles you plan to use in your position paper. Ideas for the position paper can be found in the section below. Marks will be given for style, grammar, spelling, quality of ideas, content, organization, appropriateness of reference list and reading list, and APA formatting.
Examples may include:
• Men as victims of family violence,
• The use of couples or family therapy to treat abuse,
• Whether offender group counselling is effective,
• The adequacy of the justice response to family violence,
• Whether child protective services should intervene in all cases of children being exposed to domestic violence,
• Issues surrounding unfounded allegations of IPV (intimate partner violence) or child maltreatment or sibling abuse or elder abuse, etc.
• The role of alcohol and other drugs in IPV or child maltreatment or sibling abuse or elder abuse, etc.,
• Whether women and men are equally violent in private settings,
• He assertion that elder abuse is the result of stress in providing care.
Today’s dangerous driving habits, how cell phones have changed communications, or how to avoid bad eating habits.
Whether you use Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or some other word process to create your essays, save them as .rtf (rich text format). Doing so ensures I will be able to open and read them.
Exemplification Essay
Write a 500-750 word essay using exemplification as a method of development. Include a title page and outline with your essay.
Writing Approach
Determine exactly what point you are going to make and write it down in precise terms. Think about why you want to make this point. Develop a thesis statement (pages 47-49 in The St. Martin’s Handbook). Then choose examples and details that count for something, those that move the reader toward some goal.
Choose the best examples that honestly reflect the group or class they represent. Do not pick examples that do not support your thesis. Also, make sure that your examples display all the chief features of whatever you are illustrating.
Do not give your examples and their details in a haphazard manner; give some real thought to arranging them in the best possible order. You may use order of familiarity, climax, importance, or some other order.
If an essay develops a single example, try to have at least three important things to say about it–three areas of discussion.

The Quantity and Price Strategies of Large Enterprises in Garment Industry
Write a Research Proposal
The main purpose of this progress report is to write a research proposal for your senior thesis.
Your research proposal should consist of the following contents.
Research question
Describe the purpose of your research. What is your research question? What would you like to
shed light on? You need to convince me why this is an important research question. Why is it
worth to answer your question?
Institution
In this section, describe the particular institution (an industry, a regulatory or de-regulatory
episode, a government institution or program, etc.) which you plan to do research on. This
section is going to be Introduction section in your thesis. Obviously, you can use your progress
report B on this section.
Existing studies
Summarize scientific background/ existing literature of the research. Knowing what have been
done is very important because your thesis should have some new contributions on academics
(i.e. you cannot just repeat what someone else has done).
Methodology
Describe your ideas of research method. You should show practical ideas. For example, if you
plan to conduct an empirical study, then you should here describe:
Hypothesis (To answer your research question, what kind of hypothesis would you want to
test?)
Data description (Search available data sources for your research)
Estimation model (Which variables to use? Linear model? Etc.)
If you plan to conduct a theoretical study, then you may want to describe here:
What kind of model do you plan to use? Do you want to extend an existing model or
construct a new model?
What kind of assumptions do you have to impose on your model ? What are exogenous
variables and endogenous variables in your model? Etc.
Expected result
Preparing progress report
Write your expected results in this section. Be ready to get unexpected results though. If you get
unexpected results, you should be able to reason them.
Formal-free: A4 not more than 5 pages.

•The Quantity and Price Strategies of Large Enterprises in Garment Industry
Abstract – I investigated the status quo of the garment industry in Changshu. And through analyzing the statistics I collected, I preliminarily discovered that the garment industry is facing a crisis situation in recent years. With finding one of the possible reasons of too many new enterprises entered the industry, I decided to analyze this saturation problem and find some theoretical solutions to improve the serious situation in this industry to some extent. Specifically, with combining Cournot quantity setting model and Bertrand Price setting model, I will figure out whether the increasing number of large enterprises will lead to the profit decline of both large firms and the entire industry by setting: 1. One monopoly and monopsony large firm makes decisions of output level and processing price in a vertical integrated market 2. Two duopoly large firms compete in the same vertical integrated market by setting best output level and processing price.
•Cost Efficiency of Commercial Banks and Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Financing in China
Abstract – This paper analyzes two main current issues faced by commercial banking industry in China. Using the Data Envelop Analysis approach, cost efficiency of commercial banks in the last five years is measured. The result shows that Big Four banks in China remain cost inefficient comparing with other commercial banks. Another issue is financial access of small and medium-sized enterprises in China. Using the regional data, this paper tries to test the effects on small and medium-sized enterprises growth brought by both big bank and small city commercial bank, and whether there is a difference in the effect from big bank and small bank. Due to the limited data, no clear relationship can be concluded. In spite of that, case study on China Minsheng Bank and alternatives small loan lenders give several strategy implications in improving commercial bank’s performance.
•Product Differentiation with Uncertainty: The Case of Organic Agriculture Industry
Abstract – I examine linear city duopoly where agricultural firms choose their price and chemical usage levels to maximise their profits. The price and amount of chemicals used upon production are the only variables of interests to consumers whose preferences are uniformly distributed. New to this model is that uncertainty exists on consumers’ end about how much chemicals are used for each agricultural good. It is more costly to produce organic products than otherwise. Equilibrium chemical level depends on additional cost for organic production in relation to uncertainty rate, transportation cost, and perceived chemical usage level of the two firms. Both firms will produce at full chemical usage level when the cost of organic production is neither too low nor too high. Otherwise, one firm will produce at zero chemical level and the other at full level, achieving the maximal product differentiation. It will also be shown in the third section of the paper that this Supermarket Model can account for a situation where there exists no uncertainty.
•Empirical Study on the Effect of Electronic Money towards Cash and Macro Economy in Japan
Abstract – Electronic Money was introduced to Japanese market twenty years ago, and since then it has shown a rapid growth in the market. Until 2015, it is shown that the market size of electronic money will increase up to 400billion yen. In this thesis, it focuses to reveal the relationship between the development of electronic money and cash money as well as to the macro economy by using econometric approach. From the empirical studies done, it is unclear to say electronic money effect the quantity of newly effected cash, but it was clear to say it has an effect to cash demand, especially to the coins. Moreover from econometric analysis, although it decreases the cash demand, electronic money will not lead economy to inflation, since their amount calculated by the price will not have strong enough effect. On the other hand, it has been revealed that the electronic money decreases total cost of issuing money and due to the characteristic of it, it expanses price setting range and utility of the society.
•The effect of health Food labeling on consumer preferences: A case of Japan’s health food industry
Abstract – This research aims to verify whether health claims on products can potentially cause positive effect on consumer preferences, focusing primarily on the case of Japan’s health food market. As consumers pay increasing attention to the maintenance of healthy lifestyle and food safety, utilization of food labeling has become an effective marketing strategy which could further lead to product differentiation and thus contribute to an increase in sales. Japan’s health food sector has been growing rapidly in the past decades and is currently considered the second largest market around the globe. However, products with health claims in Japan often require costly investment in order to fulfill the government regulation process and thus creating a dilemma that firms need to take into consideration. To help firms assess the value of health claims as perceived by general customers, a choice-based conjoint analysis was conducted focusing on the two main categorizations of health food: FOSHU (Food for specified health uses) and FNFC (Food with nutrient function claim). The study found that consumers indeed regard FOSHU health claim as a crucial factor which affects purchase decision. In addition, products that are labeled as utilizing domestic ingredients (Made in Japan) also pose as another factor which increases consumers’ preferences. On the other hand, FNFC health claim apparently doesn’t cause any measurable effect on consumers’ purchase decision. The domestic ingredient origin label, however, still holds its positive impact and remain a statistically significant factor.
•A Country-Level Panel Data Study on Determinants of Protein Demands
Abstract – The food market would be expected to increase, but meet an increase in food demand for more than 9.7 billion people in the future is the challenge to face. The aim of this study is to investigate the determinants of protein demands on a country-level from 162 countries through a panel data approach from 1997 to 2011. Subsequent to this, a further analysis on future protein demands by linear regression method is carried out. The result of the study shows that the demands of protein are driven by price, demographic and socioeconomic factors. Recently, urbanisation is one of the major demographic developments that change consumption patterns into more diverse. Age is one of the most driving factors for protein demands as body requirements for protein and the income level differ by age. In terms of socioeconomic factors, an individual or household income increases the degree of freedom to consume more diverse diet explained by Bennett’s law. The proportion of expenditure also changes with increasing income, while the effect of price has a negative impact on the purchasing power of food products. The study also finds that protein demands decelerate in developed countries and accelerate in developing countries.

Being a great leader and manager involves being able to effectively delegate tasks to the right people to get the job done correctly and efficiently. Give an example of something at work (if you don’t have a job then use ideas from what you know about someone else’s job, a past job, or as a parent delegating to a family member) that should be delegated instead of being done by the manager.
Discussion #1: Delegation
Being a great leader and manager involves being able to effectively delegate tasks to the right people to get the job done correctly and efficiently. Give an example of something at work (if you don’t have a job then use ideas from what you know about someone else’s job, a past job, or as a parent delegating to a family member) that should be delegated instead of being done by the manager.
Using the steps of delegation and what you learned about delegation in this module, explain why this task should be delegated and outline the process you would use (being specific in applying this to your example) to delegate this task.
After reading your responses from your peers, determine the risks and rewards of delegation. Why is follow up important in all the tasks identified by you and your peers?
To submit your post to the Discussion select “Start a New Thread”, and type or paste your posting to the question. After reading your peers post, select “Reply to Thread”.
Please note: This Discussion and all the graded discussions in this course are “Must Post First”: After you have posted your response – you then get the benefit of seeing what your fellow students answered while going through the same discussion exercise. Then you can provide feedback comments
Dealing with Change
Discussion #1: Dealing with Change
As a leader, change in some manner is inevitable. Your company can be acquired, you have workforce turnover, updates in technology, new products, changes in the economy—the list can go on and on.
You are a leader of a company that was just acquired by a competitor. Your staff is understandably nervous about the change and unsure what the future may hold.
What are 3 potential reasons why employees may be resistant to this change, based on the theories of change we are reading about this week?
What do you think is ONE of the more important things you can do as a leader that will help minimize your employees’ resistance to that change and get them on-board with the change?
In your responses to your peers, tie in your own experiences with change and how you may have resisted or embraced the changes. How did your leader respond?
To submit your post to the Discussion select “Start a New Thread”, and type or paste your posting to the question. After reading your peers post, select “Reply to Thread”.
Please note: This Discussion and all the graded discussions in this course are “Must Post First”: After you have posted your response – you then get the benefit of seeing what your fellow students answered while going through the same discussion exercise. Then you can provide feedback comments.

There is no obligation that assistance received from members of the committee be acknowledged. Acknowledgments should be couched in terms consistent with the scholarly nature of the work. Your name and date should not appear on this page.
Abstract
All abstracts must be double-spaced and the title should simply be ABSTRACT. The abstract should reflect clear information concerning the contents of the thesis.
Key words (3-5 words)
Table of Contents
The table of contents is designed for the convenience of the reader. It should include the acknowledgment page, abstract, list of tables, list of illustrations, list of abbreviations or symbols, appendices and references as well as the major sections in the text. Do not list the “Title Page” or “Table of Contents” in the table of contents. Please note the following:
• You must have dot leaders between the end of a heading and its page
number
• Headings in the table of contents should appear as they do in the text
List of Tables
The term “table” applies to numerical and statistical data set in vertical or horizontal alignment. If there are tables in your text/appendix, a list of tables must be included. The “List of Tables” is on a page by itself and arranged in the same general format as the Table of Contents. Type the table numbers in Arabic numerals, and the titles in capital and small letters, with period leaders extending from the last letter of the title to the page number. Please note:
• Titles may be shorter than they appear in the text as long as they are not misleading. Titles may not be longer than the titles in the text.
• Numbering of tables. You have two options: (a) You may begin by numbering the first table with the numeral “1” and continue to number your tables consecutively throughout the entire manuscript; or (b) you may number the first table in each chapter with numeral ‘1″ and continue to number your tables consecutively within each chapter. For example, if chapter four has three tables and chapter five has three tables, the numbering would be as follows: 4.1 4.2 4.3; 5.1, 5.2, 5.3.
Single space within titles which are longer than one line, but double space between each entry.
List of Illustrations (charts, graphs, figures)
This list is also placed on a page by itself and arranged in the same general format as the Table of Contents. Designate figure numbers with Arabic numerals, and plate numbers, if any, with capital Roman numerals. If the thesis contains both figures and plates, arrange them on separate lists.
List of Symbols
If symbols are needed in the text, a list should be provided to explain their definitions or meanings. The list should be placed on a separate page and included where specified by these instructions.
Preface
A preface, while optional, enables you to explain your purpose and perhaps justify your choice of a topic. The preface is also an appropriate place to present an overview of the project, including a description of what is to be found in each chapter. If utilized, it is part of the preliminary pages (numbered with Roman numerals) and therefore precedes the main text.
Text
The organization of the text varies somewhat with the subject matter. The project is divided into five chapters, each chapter titled and beginning on a new page. In general, the content of the five chapters include:
Chapter I: Introduction
The first chapter provides an overview of the project. The specific subsections of this chapter will vary, depending on the subject matter. In general, the first chapter should include the following information:
Background of the Study: provide a brief history of the ideas and issues related to the research topic. This section should not be a review of the literature (though some information may be repeated in the literature review), but a description of the events leading up to this research.
Problem Statement: this is the heart of the research project. This subsection states the reason(s) why this research project is important. A good way to approach the Problem Statement is to address the following: Because of x and y, there is a problem in society (or the criminal justice system or the field of forensic science); if only we knew more about things might be better. The research project should be designed to answer z, which is the research question.
Purpose and objectives of the Study: list the component parts of the research question. Rarely is a problem in forensic sciences one-dimensional. This subsection should describe the specific elements of the problem being addressed by the research.
Rationale of the Study: develop the reasons for examining the elements described in the purpose and objectives section. Explain why those elements were selected, how they relate to the topic of the research, and how they related to each other. In other words, explain how will accomplishing the purpose and objectives answers the research question, and is something we should care about.
Definition of Terms: list definitions for only those terms which might be unfamiliar to the reader, especially those which can be considered terms of art and operational definitions.
Limitations of the Study: describe self-imposed limits on the research, including those that relate to both the breadth and depth of the inquiry. Also include limitations that exist due to factors beyond your control. Describe the (potential) effects the particular limitations may have on your research.
Theoretical Framework: if the research is driven by, or relates to, a particular theoretical orientation, provide a brief overview of that orientation and how it relates to the research.
Research Hypotheses: based on the purpose and objectives, what are the expected outcomes for the research? Hypotheses are essentially predictions about the answers to the research question and its component parts. The research hypotheses are a critical element of the research project: they will guide the literature review; heavily influence the research methodology needed to obtain data that will either support or reject the hypotheses; and provide the focus for data analysis, discussion, conclusions, and recommendations.
Summary of Remaining Chapters: Describe the content of the remaining chapters. If a preface is utilized, this subsection is not necessary.
Chapter II: Literature Review
The second chapter should not be confused with the Introduction in Chapter I. The introduction provides a review of the topic; the Literature Review summarizes what has been said about the topic. The Literature Review is not a series of book (or journal article) reports. A good literature review tells a story about the topic, using scholarly published works to support what is written. The chapter should be organized in such a way as to (a) bring together the most important writings about the research question in general, followed by (b) a closer examination of the writings related to the component parts detailed in the Purpose and Objectives subsection of Chapter I. It is very helpful to the reader if the ideas are presented in the same order throughout the thesis.
This chapter will contain the greatest number of citations, so it is important that they be done correctly. Each citation must have a corresponding listing in the Reference section.
The Literature Review should not include data that will be used to answer the research question or test your research hypotheses. If the project is utilizing an analysis of published research to answer the research question, the Literature Review should provide the background and take the reader up to the point where those studies begin.
Chapter III: Methodology
In general, this chapter describes how the data were collected that answer the research question and its component parts. It is important to utilize appropriate methods of data collection in order to be able to support or reject the research hypotheses. This chapter should begin with a description of the research methods used in the research, including a description of the dependent and independent variables, if any. Chapter III will most likely include the following subsections:
Setting: if important to the research, describe the time and place of data collection.
Description of the Subjects: depending on the type of data used in the project, this subsection can include either subjects involved in primary data collection, or those described in published research studies. If the project involves human subjects, it is necessary to first obtain their consent in writing.
Description of the Research Instrument(s): fully describe all questionnaires and tests, if appropriate. Include a copy of questionnaires in the Appendix.
Procedures: describe in full detail how data were collected. If different methods were used, each method must be described. This subsection should also include a description and rationale for any statistical procedures used to support or reject the research hypotheses.
Chapter IV: Results
This chapter includes a presentation and analysis of the data. The tone of the chapter is purely objective, devoid of assumptions and interpretations.
Following a summary of the research data, Chapter IV should be organized in
manner consistent with the research hypotheses: first, present data related to the
first hypotheses; and second, analyze those data to determine whether the first
hypothesis can be supported or rejected. Follow this sequence for each hypothesis.
Tables are an effective way to present quantitative data. Qualitative data should be summarized, as opposed to verbatim transcriptions.
Chapter V: Discussion, Conclusions, and Recommendations
This chapter involves (a) a discussion of the research project, including the findings, interpretation of the results, and problems and/or limitations; (b) a conclusion: what did we find out? what did we learn? and (c) recommendations for changes in policy or practice, future research, or anything else that will direct solutions to the problem(s) that were the focus of the research.
References
Only those works cited in the text appear in the Reference section and, conversely, every work in the Reference section must appear in the text. It is important to properly cite all references. References style should be according to APA manual.

Female leadership Assignment
Female Leader Assignment
For this assignment, you will write a summary of a current woman leader in politics. You will focus on the National government and can choose any powerful female leader you would like, but I would recommend choosing a prime minister, president, or a cabinet member (ministers in parliamentary systems, secretaries in presidential systems).
While this is a summary of the individual, you should still follow typical essay format: an introduction with a thesis (your argument), body, and conclusion. Your summary should include: (1) a summary of the female leader’s upbringing, (2) the leader’s rise to power and the context under which it occurred, and (3) policy decisions and/or important events during the leader’s tenure in office.
The paper should use class sources to examine/explain each of the key points above. How does their rise, upbringing, policy decisions, etc. confirm/disconfirm theories/research we have discussed? Hint: this should be the argument in your thesis.
For example, if you find that the individual made decisions for women, such as voting yes for a domestic violence policy, this may suggest that women in office do substantively represent women!
**You should focus on elected officials for this assignment
