You have some good ideas and please make sure you see my specific comments in your paper. I like the idea of looking at family relationships but it is not clear what you are exactly wanting to study and why it is new information. The information about NPD and mothers is well documented and you have not presented any information on what is needed and what the gaps in the research are. Please remember you need to clearly identify the issue, the rationale, the purpose, the terms, the gaps in current research and the supporting research to show the gaps. Please present a clear and specific research question that is measurable in proper format. Your research question is vague and does not match your proposed method. You cannot use a literature review as a method for research, we are not completing meta-analysis studies in this course. You must use peer reviewed articles and support all statements of fact. You have many statements of fact that are not supported. Place citations in APA format and introduce studies by authors last name and date. Do not use first names and initials. Please add a summary. I recommend that you meet with your tutor to review the expectation of the project before you resubmit. Please show the research findings to support your Chapter 1
Please present a clear RQ and describe what research problem led to the development of the RQ
Please clearly summarize current investigations and research and what is currently known
Please be clear with what information is needed in order to advance the knowledge base. You have only presented information that is already known and fully researched
Please explain the major themes that you will review in the literature review using the current research and show the research
Please provide a clear rationale for the section of the design and it must fit the study. Discuss how you will use the design and analyze the data

Preproduction – Scripts, Video & Graphics
The SCOOP: Preproduction – Scripts, Video & Graphics
This assignment demonstrates your ability to create a show rundown, write creative scripts using
the A/V format, select show graphics and properly size them for broadcast and to select and edit
video clips to be used in your show.
Assignment Requirements:
1. Total Project Length 5 minutes (Including 1 minute Commercial Break)
2. Rundown
3. Scripts
4. Video (at least one A-Block story w/ Video Clip)
5. Graphics (Every story must have an OTS Graphic) Provide list for Clip Store
6. Chyron (Every Host, Guest and Story with video must include L3) Provide list for Chyron
7. Props for your B-Block sketch – Provide List or Photo
***Detailed instruction for each of the requirements below.
Your RUNDOWN should clearly communicate the order of scripts, the elements that correspond
with those scripts such as video clips, lower third graphics and (OTS) over the shoulder graphics
and finally the timing of each script plus commercial break for a total show time of 5 minutes.
RUNDOWN EXAMPLE:
# SLUG CAM GFX/VFX VTR CHYRON SEG-TIME BACKT
A1 OPEN THEME 1 (c-key) Scoop OTS clipS2 L3/Host Name/Scoop :15 4:45
A2 CRADLE ROBBER 1 (c-key) Marc Anthony – – :15 4:30
A3 PUSHED 1 (c-key) girl/canyon 7-vtr L3/ courtesy 1:05 3:25
***This rundown was created in Microsoft Word using Tables
Your SCRIPTS should include detailed information for the director and crew in the left hand
column as well as information for the host in the right hand column. Use the provided A1 script
from the practice scripts for your show. Remember to update your hosts name in both columns.
You will then create 3:45 worth of original content to work into your version of the SCOOP cut-in.
Your show will remain named THE SCOOP. You will be provided a 1-minute break to be used
between the A –block stories and your B-Block sketch which includes a guest. Remember to have
someone read your scripts as you time to make sure your timing is accurate. You must include at
least one element of video during your A-Block. Your video clip must not exceed a ru
SCRIPT
EXAMPLE:
Your GRAPHICS should be sized 1920 x 1080. Save each graphic as a TIFF/TARGA file using
the SLUG from your rundown as the file name. This will allow your Clip Store operator to quickly
locate and order graphics according to your rundown. Each story should have Graphic that will fill
the virtual set monitor giving the viewer visual information that’s quick and easy to recognize.
Remember to use graphics that are 1920 x 1080 or larger before resizing them to keep the quality
high. Use graphics that allow for broadcast as part of their copyright use. Make a list of each
Graphic/OTS for your Clip Store operator. Attach each graphic to this assignment submission.
Your VIDEO clip should be edited for your script. The video must be at least 15 seconds in length
but should not exceed 45 seconds in length. It must fit the High Definition frame of 1920 x 1080.
Follow the guide provided to export your video in the proper format for the server. All video should
include audio. At the start of your video include a slate with the SLUG and the TRT (Total Run
Time) of your video. You must have this video on a USB drive for the TA to transfer to the Server.
Include a link in the submission window to the original video clip. REMEMBER to include a L3
(Lower Third) courtesy on the story script for your video that CHYRON will then key over your
video during the show. (Do NOT add L3s during the edit of your video)
The SKETCH will consist of your Host and a guest. The sketch should be an interview with a
comical twist. The use of props makes it fun and easier on your talent to be funny. Think about
props that might aid in your sketch. Remember no food or drinks are allowed in the studio. Timing
a run of your sketch with talent is helpful to make sure your calculated rundown time is correct.
The CHYRON list includes all of the lower third graphics that the Chyron will type for the show.
These graphics are different from the OTS graphics and should be on a separate list for the
Chyron Operator to use for production. Each person and video element needs a lower third
identifier. The Host should have a 2 Line L3, which includes their name on the top line and the
show name “THE SCOOP” on the bottom line. Use the 2 line L3 format for your guest during the
sketch include their name on the top line and their title on the bottom. Depending on where you
took your video from you will need either a 2 Line L3 or a 1 Line L3. Your Chyron list should
include information for the operator to know the story the graphic corresponds with such as the
Slug Line.
Submit the all of the scripts including the provided A1 script to Sakai using the following
labeling system:
SCRIPTS Label file: Your First Initial Last Name _ A#_Scoop
RUNDOWN Label file: Your First Initial Last Name _ RD_Scoop (rundown)
GRAPHICS Label file: Your First Initial Last Name _ (GRAPHIC)_Scoop (use the SLUG name)

Governor and Public Policy Paper
Objective: The objective for this assignment is for students to understand the critical linkage between participatory democracy (elections) and public policy in a representative democracy. It is the individual and corporate responsibility of the voters to make sure that elected officials implement public policy beneficial to the public and, if they do not, to remove them from office the next election. Students must explain how elected governors can use their formal and informal powers to influence public policy.
Scenario for the assignment:
Congratulations! You have recently been elected the Governor of Texas. You built your successful campaign around promises to address four issues that are significant to the voters of Texas: controlling immigration from Mexico, limiting the power of the national government, making sure the death penalty is applied fairly and improving k-12 education. Please discuss each of these issues and focus on the following:
1. Write a paper that answers the questions below.
2. In explaining how you will vote on the bill, be sure to explain the following:
• Why these issues likely helped get you elected Governor (refer to Campaign message and campaign strategy from Unit 2)? (Unit 2 Written Lectures, Slide 24)
• Discuss the formal and informal powers of the Governor Texas? (Unit 6 Written Lectures, Slides 5-9)
• What is at least one formal power (do not use the same formal power all of the issues) that you can use to get each policy passed by the legislature? (Unit 6 Written Lectures, Slides 5, 6 & 7)
• What is at least one informal power (do not sue the same informal power for each of the issues) that you can use to get each policy passed by the legislature? (Unit 6 Written Lectures, Slides 8 & 9)
The Creation (and Re-creation) of Venus
Write up the narration.
Directions
Art is about creating original works, yet artists are often influenced by other artists. For this Project, you will prepare and give a “gallery talk” to Museum visitors that explains and analyzes two works of art from different centuries. The purpose of your presentation is to help visitors understand the significance of what they are seeing by comparing and contrasting the paintings and placing them in their historical and cultural contexts.
In your presentation, be sure to accomplish the following:
• Provide an overview of the two painters, Titian and Manet
• Describe the two paintings, Titian’s Venus of Urbino and Manet’s Olympia, focusing on the subject matter and artistic style of each
• Compare and contrast the paintings in terms of their subject matter and style
• Discuss the historical and cultural contexts in which both paintings were created
• Explain how the specific time and place in which the artists worked influenced how they represented the woman depicted in each painting
• Include images of the artworks in your presentation. Find the images in the resources or online. You will need to manipulate the images (for example, by cropping, resizing or selecting sections of the image) to highlight different features you plan to discuss in your presentation
• Be sure to consider the visual appeal and readability of each slide
All information must be cited consistently, following APA format. Remember to cite the sources for all images (both edited and not).
You can either narrate a PowerPoint

Question 3: Internal Network Privacy
Privacy on the Internet is a much talked about topic. The Internet is a dangerous place for personal information to be transmitted. It is important to take steps in protecting personal and private information sent on the Internet.
Does that same level of privacy requirement exist on a local area network? If so, what are some of the avenues that can be taken to protect personal information?
Include references in APA format.
Question4: Technology Evaluation
Evaluating new technologies is often a reason why people enter the information technology field. Many times new gadgets can be exciting and fun, but also have a potential usefulness when implemented in an organization.
What steps would you take to evaluate a new piece of technology?
Include references in APA format.
Question 5: Emerging Technology Benefits
In many of the videos you watched for this week’s topic of emerging technologies there were several “cool” possibilities. The videos showed some general uses of these tools, but because they were more futuristic and promotional they did not get in to specifics.
Did you see a business benefit for any of these technologies in your company? How would one of these devices or something like it benefit you or your organization?
Include references in APA format.
Question 6: Sharpening the Saw
Technology evaluation can be fun but it is also an essential part of being an information technology professional. There are many different ways to keep on top of new technology trends.
How do you keep up-to-date with new technologies? What are some of the web sites, conferences, trade publications, etc., that you use or think you could use to accomplish the task of staying on top of technology advancements?
Include references in APA format.
Charles Taylor: The Malaise of Modernity
Book Review Assignment
Charles Taylor: The Malaise of Modernity
Some general notes about writing a critical book review
A critical book review is more than a summary of the contents of a book. It is an attempt on the part of the reviewer to pull out what can be regarded as the most important parts of the argument the author attempts to make in the book, and subject them to evaluation according to standards that you the reviewer define as appropriate.
Students are often stuck with the question of what is an appropriate standard of evaluation. There is no one single standard, but some of the more common ones included internal consistency of argument, overall coherence of argument, importance of unstated assumptions to argument, historical provenance of argument, etc.
What does this all mean, Example I:
You are tasked with writing a critical review of Mary Wollstonecroft’s Vindication of the Rights of Women. In your review you discuss her aim of showing how conventional ideas of femininity as pleasing ornaments for men trap women in artificial and stultifying roles. After demonstrating how Wollstonecroft made her arguments, what kind of critical evaluation can be offered up? One line of argument you can make at this point is ask whether Wollstonecroft believes that the feminine self is entirely a social construction (no essential thing as a woman/man) or whether there remain natural differences between the sexes that lead to different behaviors/social expectations. Then the critical part—is she consistent in her views on this?
What does this all mean, Example II:
You are tasked with writing a critical review of Max Horkheimer’s Dialectic of Enlightenment. In your review you summarize Horkheimer’s pessimistic view of the colonizing power of instrumental reason (the type of reason associated with the rise of science and technology) and his view that modern society is destined to be stuck in a technological dystopia where we can no longer ask meaningful questions about value and the purpose of life. How to critically evaluate this argument? One line of assessment would question whether or not Horkheimer is here working with an unstated assumption, in particular, the assumption that the form of thinking (in this case instrumental reasoning) determines both content (ideas) and context (the social milieu in which we think and decide about things). If he is working with this assumption, is it a reasonable assumption? Or is it possible that context determines how instrumental reason is put to use, in which case there is no one single pessimistic future awaiting modernity?
How should the book review be structured?
A book review should have the same basic structure as any essay: an introduction which states the purpose/intent of the review, the body which contains both a summary of the text under review and the reviewer’s assessment of that text, and finally the conclusion which reiterates the main thesis the reviewer has attempted to establish. A guideline you can work with to help organize your review includes the following:
1. What problem or major question is the author you are reviewing trying to address in his/her work?
2. How does the author go about establishing his/her argument(s)
3. Are the arguments compelling and why? (here you are starting your evaluation)
4. If you think the argument is compelling are there supporting arguments that you can think of that buttress the author’s point?
5. If you think the argument is not compelling, explain the weaknesses (do not simply assert a counterposition—show why the author’s argument is weak).
6. Concluding statement with restatement of your thesis.
What to do with Charles Taylor’s book?
When reviewing Taylor’s The Malaise of Modernity, students will encounter an obvious problem. While it is a short book, he packs a lot of philosophical arguments in it. The best you can hope to do is to give a broad overview of the three “malaises” he identifies with modernity, explain why he thinks they are malaises to begin with, and then maybe focus on just one of them you feel most comfortable writing about—perhaps the one he spends the most of the book exploring, the fading of moral horizons. Your initial task is to succinctly tell the reader what Taylor sees as the problem. As a critical reviewer, you also have to tell the reader whether you agree this is a problem as Taylor describes it, and whether you agree with the direction he points to in dealing with the problem. And you have to give your reasons. If you are not sure at this point what you want to say, there is one hint I can give you. Go to an academic index for book reviews and type in Malaise of Modernity to find out what other reviewers have said about the book. I provide links to two common academic indexes: Web of Science and Social Science Abstracts.

How is this assignment graded?
Because this is a fourth year class, and because it is a class in political theory, presentation is regarded as an important part of the overall sensibility of the paper. Style, composition, grammar are accordingly given weight in the final grade. As you review your paper, go over the checklist provided below:
1. Is the review organized in a conventional manner, i.e., introduction, body of argument, conclusion?
2. Have I clearly explained what the author intended in his/her book?
3. Have I clearly spelled out my reaction to the author’s argument—my evaluation?
4. Does my review contain a thesis (main argument) and is it clearly stated in the conclusion?
5. Do the paragraphs of my review flow from one to the other without contradiction or repetition?
6. Is the paper free of spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors?
7. Have I avoided using overly-complicated sentence structures?
8. Have I avoided using complex words when simpler, clearer terms are available?
9. Have I made a point?
Failure Analysis Methods
Length: 600 words, minimum
Format: IEEE manuscript form (columns not necessary); double spaced, pg #s in upper left, title, headings, both labeled and numbered
Failure Analysis (FA) is both a preventative process and forensic tool in engineering. FA is used during the design and development phase of a product, process, or service to systematically anticipate potential points of failure and correct them before the product is released to the consumer. As a forensic process, FA is used to diagnose actual failures and recommend solutions. For both kinds of FA, “standards” may be employed to guide decisions.
Failure analysis methods are discipline specific, but ALL fields of engineering have methods for preventing and diagnosing failures. Logically, “failure analysis” begins with the assumption that failures happen: computer engineers look for bugs, glitches, failed batching, security holes, invalid naming, input/output errors, etc., while those in more physically-oriented fields look for mechanical, chemical, environmental, and use-related stresses (among other possibilities). All fields of engineering have codes and standards to rely on. All fields of engineering have methods for testing during the development phase and as a forensic activity should a failure occur.
In this report, you will explain the failure analysis methods in your field of engineering. Failure testing is a critical aspect of engineering, so much so that it has career tracks devoted solely to its practice. Thus, we don’t expect your report to be an exhaustive account of all methods! Instead, this report is an opportunity for you to learn about FA.
Instructions:
You will research and document types of failure as well as failure analysis methods in your field of engineering. Your report will include the following major subheadings:
Common types of failure in industrial engineering
Type of failure
Cause of failure
Failure Analysis Methods
Preventative methods
Non-destructive
Destructive
Forensic Methods
Non-destructive
Destructive
