Start by reading Case #1, page 322. Now, I want you to create two separate arguments. In the first one, I want you use Kant, Aquinas or Aristotle’s theories to create an argument that concludes that getting an abortion to avoid having a baby with minor disabilities is morally permissible. Then, I want you to create a second argument, using either Kant, Aquinas or Aristotle’s theories that concludes that it is not morally permissible to get an abortion in order to avoid having a baby with minor disabilities. You should use different theories from the three choices for each of the two arguments (that way you get to practice with two different theories). Please just label them “argument 1” and “argument 2”.
Unlike in assignment #2 where the argument was in outline form, I want you to use full paragraphs for this assignment – one good paragraph for the first argument and one good paragraph for the second argument. That way you are working up from arguments in outline form (assignment #2), to arguments written in paragraphs (assignments #3 & #4) to full essays by the midterm exam. For this assignment, the beginning of each paragraph should tell me which theory you are using and the standard(s) of that theory. Then you should have a couple of sentences which explain how the standard(s) would be applied to this dilemma about abortions in the case of minor disabilities (so, for Kant – what is or isn’t universalizable and who is or isn’t being used as a means to an end; for Aquinas – which of his three goods are applicable to this situation, and are they being followed or not; and for Aristotle – which specific virtues are applicable to this situation, and are they being followed or not?). Critiquing the validity and robustness of research featured in journal articles provides a critical foundation for engaging in evidence-based practice. In Weeks 5 and 6, you explored quantitative research designs. In Week 7, you will examine qualitative and mixed methods research designs. Class Project
Goal
• to provide students with an opportunity to become more aware of how the media (more specifically,
social advertising) is used to promote social development in Canada and around the world.
• to identify and reflect on the main learning points from course textbook;
• to improve student’s research capacity within key areas of social development field of practice.
Procedure
The class project is an ongoing learning activity during the course. A class project has two parts. For each part,
students need to complete the following tasks.
The part 1 (units 1-5) is due during midterm (please see the deadline in course schedule) and will include Social

Social Advertisement and Social Development Concern Selection Post (Part 1 only): Please post on designated

Your post should include the correct APA reference for your social advertisement and a rationale why you have
selected social advertisement for your class project. In your rationale you need to define one prominent social
development concern you will research for your social advertisement research paper. You also need to select a
target population (a group of people who are affected by your selected social development concern and a

• Each student is required to complete the research paper based on selected social advertisement. The
paper should follow essay style format (introduction, body and conclusion). All referencing should be

paper should be no longer than 100-150 words each.
• The body of your paper (450-600 words) should have a strong argument on why your selected advertisement
is needed to raise awareness for your selected social development concern for selected target group in your
specified geographic location.

selected concern for target population and geographic location. You need to provide the recent data from
credible source (where the information was independently verified using good scientific methods) to

The video “What is History For?” argues that history matters because it provides solutions to the problems of the present. Recall the statement “Those who don’t know history won’t be able to improve the present.” Consider a recent event, either in your personal life or in the news. In a few sentences, describe a way that a past historical event could inform your understanding of the recent event. Briefly describe a strategy for how you could be conscious of presentism in applying the past to the present.

The first unethical leader from my standpoint is the Liberian former president Charles Taylor. He was first the leader of a rebel group who dismantled the country and stole power to become president. While he was the president, he disregarded human rights law, he took away everyone civil rights that no one had the right to speak freely. He empowered his children and followers especially his son to infringe on everyone’s freedom. The former president embezzled the country money, send his contacts abroad and various outsource accounts were set up in others name while the Liberia population suffered starvation while the few hierarchies enjoyed the country’s wealth. I find former president Taylor to have been a charismatic leader because of the conviction and commitment to his cause not the cause of everyone. His cause was to rule human beings like a dictator/or ruler. I feel like he was charismatic to him and his followers unlike Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa among others.

The second is number forty-five of the United States of America. Donald J Trump. His unethical behavior ranches from lying, disregarding human beings but only his own and up to be a racist and a bigot. He is the president of the free world that everyone in the country is supposed to be looking up to including the world around us. He disregards everyone else but himself. President Trump is an authoritarian leader who wants to have control over all decisions and little input from his group members around him. If you speak up frequently in truth, Autocratic leaders typically make choices based on their ideas and judgments and rarely accept advice from followers. While those who rely on this approach to heavily are often seen as bossy or dictator-like Trump fires you as a group member. Like other leadership styles, autocratic leaders autocratic has some weaknesses and those weaknesses are found in Trump if Trump is criticized for the right things, he finds a way to bully his followers or surroundings who do what they think is ethical.
