As a consultant to the chief executive officer (CEO) of a health care organization. WIKI “Personality” : We all have an opinion and expectations in regards to the personality of people in certain professions. We expect physicians to be conscientious, reliable and thorough. Kindergarten teachers need patience and humor and so forth. In this Wiki group, students will identify Personality traits that they connect with the future occupations of group members. In your Wiki main page below, you will find a table with an already completed example for one occupation: Pilot. Follow this example.

There are three work steps (which means, students must work in this Wiki throughout the week. Make sure that you are aware of due dates!) :

1. Each student will add his or her desired occupation to the table. By Monday night, there should be up to five occupations listed if everyone participates.

2. Group members now fill in traits (good and bad) for these occupations – with the exception of their own. So if all 5 group members have added their future occupation, each member now adds traits to the occupations of their 4 fellow group members. Each students should list 4-5 “good” and 4-5 “bad” traits for each of the four occupations. Please use for the traits the personality traits article with a list of more than 500 personal qualities posted in the reading assignment for this week and don’t repeat traits that are already listed by group mates. I suggest that as a group, determine as soon as possible a time by when all group members must have added their list of traits. Set your own due date for this step.

3. Final step: Discuss as group the list of traits for each career and narrow it down to the top 5 of the “good” and the top 5 “bad” for each occupation – but again: for each career, the student who posted the career should NOT PARTICIPATE in this discussion. Due by Thursday midnight.

The goal is for everyone to learn what kind of behavior OTHER people may expect just because one works in a certain career. It appears that career success is influenced by the degree that your actual personality matches the personality expectations of other people. For example most people expect pediatricians to be warm and friendly and a doctor with a rather cold and distant personality may find it difficult to attract patients regardless of the medical qualifications. The next journal essay due at the end of week 6 will ask students to reflect on the results of the Wiki activity for their own career.

Again: Students, who miss the first Wiki due date and do not post an occupation by Monday night are excluded from the Wiki activity.

Procedure: The 48-year-old white female was brought to the procedure suite. After reviewing the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure, she decided to proceed with the trigger point injection. Her upper back was sterilely prepped. I isolated the muscle in spasm and used a 25-gauge 5-inch needle to perform an aspiration of the area, which was negative. Then 4.0 cc of Marcaine .5 percent was injected into three trigger points. She tolerated the procedure very well.

Procedure: this 57- year-old black male has acute prepatellar bursitis. The right knee is swollen and warm to the touch. He has had similar symptoms in the past, responded well to Aristopan injection, and is here today for an injection.
I reviewed the risk, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure with the patient, who expressed his understanding and agreed to proceed with the injection. MAC sedation was initiated and I prepped the knee with a sterile alcohol wipe. I then injected 20.0 mg of Artistospan into the right prepatellar bursa. No complications from the injection were noted. Discharge after criteria met. Instructed patient it was okay to continue his Novolog 100 U before each meal for this type I diabetes.

A common problem facing any business entity is the debt versus equity decision. When funds are required to obtain assets, should debt or equity financing be used? This decision also is faced when a company is initially formed. What will be the mix of debt versus equity in the initial capital structure? The characteristics of debt are very different from those of equity as are the financial implications of using one method of financing as opposed to the other.
Cherokee Plastics Corporation is formed by a group of investors to manufacture household plastic products. Their initial capitalization goal is $50,000,000. That is, the incorporators have decided to raise $50,000,000 to acquire the initial assets of the company. They have narrowed down the financing mix alternatives to two:

No matter which financing alternative is chosen, the corporation expects to be able to generate a 10% annual return, before payment of interest and income taxes, on the $50,000,000 in assets acquired. The interest rate on debt would be 8%. The effective income tax rate will be approximately 50%.
Alternative 2 will require specified interest and principal payments to be made to the creditors at specific dates. The interest portion of these payments (interest expense) will reduce the taxable income of the corporation and hence the amount of income tax the corporation will pay. The all-equity alternative requires no specified payments to be made to suppliers of capital. The corporation is not legally liable to make distributions to its owners. If the board of directors does decide to make a distribution, it is not an expense of the corporation and does not reduce taxable income and hence the taxes the corporation pays.
