Compare and contrast the 4 main sentencing goals (retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, rehabilitation). Discuss the advantages and weaknesses of each goal. My 2 biggest difficulties:
1) Literature review (prelim) – separate leaders and woman and then bring them together. it is difficult to keep the trial. when is it leadership when is it woman
2) research methdology – for such a study you cannot do a questionnaire. You have to do in-depth semi-structured/structured interviews and perhaps a few focus groups. Read the suggestions and relook that entire section please.
You have to collect data for PhD – literature informs your background, burning issues, gaps from there you collect data to fill the gaps
Imagine e,.g. 4 streams of data (literature review / case study from one particular woman’s journey / in-depth interviews / case study) – this gives you rich data that you can mine and really get to a meaningful (not pre-determined/assumed) framework.

Had a meeting with the Professor today and have some notes for the final draft:

-The professor’s main argument was that he didn’t know what he should be leaving the paper with. Like what was the point?
*what is the reader being persuaded on?
**what difference would it make if there was more diversity behind the scenes?

-What expectation for reader
-fulfill the expectation

-The Professor liked the beginning but said he was a bit confused by the middle/end when the essay was talking about how hip hop was dying out and pop was taking over, but then at the end it’s saying that hip hop is dominating.

-Delve deeper into the artists & performers vs the agents/industry side. He felt like the counter argument was kind of the strongest part of the paper and that the other part felt a bit surface.

-Remember the that the reader is a professional in the music industry.

-Add another source. Maybe about Amber Grimes being the first African American female to hold a senior manager spot at Spotify or something like that.

-He liked the concept and thought it was very interesting but he wants more depth. He felt like it was too surface on the main argument.

The 2018 BCG Global Challengers Report (https://www.bcg.com/Images/BCG-Digital-Leapfrogs-May-2018-revised_tcm9-195110.pdf) identifies 100 rapidly globalizing companies from 23 emerging markets who are growing faster than their counterparts in mature markets while capturing a growing global market share.

 

Referring to the 2018 BCG Report, select one of the Global Challengers listed on Page 9. You may choose the company for various reasons:

 

– they could be based in a country that you are familiar with

– they could be a player in – or potential threat to – your own industry

– they could be a company that you are familiar with as a customer

– they could be a company that you have a personal interest in learning more about.

 

Once you have selected one of the 100 Global Challengers, produce a report that addresses the 5 following tasks:

 

TASK 1

Research the company and provide a summary of:

1. a) the company’s core business and the industry to which it belongs (suggestion – 1/2 page)
2. b) the company’s position in its domestic market (suggestion – 1/2 page)
3. c) the other countries in which the company currently operates: this could be presented in a table (for your own reference, try to identify the year in which the company entered each country and through which mode of entry e.g. acquisition, joint venture etcetera) (suggestion – 1/2 page)
4. d) you must then identify and explain the general criteria that you believe were used by the company to select these countries to expand into (suggestion – 1.5 pages)

Using the company’s country selection criteria as identified in Task 1c, identify a country that the company does not currently operate in but which you think may be attractive for the company to expand into imminently.

 

Once you have selected a country, undertake a PESTEL analysis of the country’s macro-environmental factors that you believe to be of most relevance to the company – whether in terms of opportunities or threats – and explicitly discuss the implications of these macro-environmental factors for the company.

 

As an initial starting point for data collection for this task you may wish to consult the latest version of the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report.

Scenario

The World Cup is probably one of the biggest and much anticipated sporting events in the world. Held once in every four years, this international football tournament pits 32 qualifying teams from all around the world with the eventual winner crowned as World Champion.
During the last World Cup in 2014, it was estimated that 3.2 billion people worldwide had watch the tournament. In the recently concluded World Cup 2018 held in Russia, the worldwide audience is likely to surpass the number reported by a significant margin, given the rise of online streaming.
Such a magnitude of popularity of the World Cup has also brought an associated social problem, that is, the rise of problem gambling. Numerous news reports around the world have indicated a surge in problem gambling in various countries during the World Cup (South China Morning Post, 18 Jun 2018; South China Morning Post, 24 Jun 2018; Straits Times, 12 Jul 2018; The Star Online, 23 Jun 2018; Zaobao, 12 Jul 2018). The most common form of gambling during the World Cup is online betting. With the advent of technology and widespread internet access, online gambling therefore is the greatest threat for gamblers to escalate to problem gambling.

Description

You are to write and make a presentation on marketing objectives, marketing strategy, marketing ethics and legal issues for the new product – tropic 4-in-1 shoe (link above). The written component should be 1500-2000 words maximum in length excluding the title page and reference list.
