Big Data and SWOT Analysis

Big Data and SWOT Analysis
Research a minimum of four articles on big data, its usefulness in healthcare, and achieving the goal of improving patient outcomes. Do a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis on the use of health data and the potential to improve patient outcomes based on these articles. Summarize the benefits to the patients, healthcare organizations, and providers.

Your paper should meet the following requirements:

Be 4-6 pages in length, not including the title and reference pages.
Include 3-5 references, in addition to the textbook. Remember, you must support your thinking/opinions and prior knowledge with references; all facts must be supported; in-text references used throughout the assignment must be included in an APA-formatted reference list.

Corporate Accounting

Select two public limited companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) that
are in the same industry. Go to the website of your selected companies. Then go to the Investor
Relations section of the website. This section may be called, “Investors”, “Shareholder
Information” or similar name.
In this section, go to your companies’ annual reports and save to your computer your firms’
latest annual reports consecutively for last three years. Do not use your companies’ interim
financial statements or their concise financial statements. Please read the financial statements
(balance sheet, income statement, statement of changes in owner’s equity, cash flow statement)
very carefully. Also please read the relevant footnotes of your companies’ financial statements
carefully and include information from these footnotes in your answer.
You need to do the following tasks:
OWNERS EQUITY (5 Marks)
(i) From your companies’ financial statements, list each item of equity and write your
understanding of each item. Discuss any changes in each item of equity for your
firms over the past year articulating the reasons for the change.
(ii) Provide a comparative analysis of the debt and equity position of the two firms that
you have selected.
CASH FLOWS STATEMENT (5 Marks)
(iii) From the financial statement of your chosen companies, list each item reported in
the cash flows statement and write your understanding of each item. Discuss any
changes in each item of cash flows statement for your companies over the past years
articulating the reasons for the change.
(iv) Provide a comparative analysis of your companies’ three broad categories of cash
flows (operating activities, investing activities, financing activities) and make a
comparative evaluation for three years.
(v) Also provide a comparative analysis of the two companies that you have selected
explaining the insights that you can get from the comparative analysis.
OTHER COMPREHENSIVE INCOME STATEMENT (5 Marks)
(vi) What items have been reported in the other comprehensive income statement for
each company?
(vii) Why have these items not been reported in Income Statement/Profit and Loss
Statements?
(viii) Provide a comparative analysis of the items shown in the other comprehensive
income statement section for the two companies. If these items were included in the
income statement / profit and loss statements of each company, how would the
profit attributable to shareholders of the company be affected?
(ix) Should other comprehensive income be included in evaluating the performance of
managers of the company?
ACCOUNTING FOR CROPORATE INCOME TAX (15 Marks)
(x) What are the tax expenses shown in the latest financial statements of the two
companies that you have selected?
(xi) Calculate the effective tax rate for both companies that you have selected.
Effective tax rate is calculated as (income tax expense / earnings before tax).
Which one of the companies has the higher effective tax rate?
(xii) Comment on deferred tax assets/liabilities that is reported in the balance sheet
articulating the possible reasons why they have been recorded.
(xiii) Was there any increase or decrease in the deferred tax assets or in the deferred tax
liability reported by each of your selected companies?
(xiv) Please calculate the cash tax amount for both companies using the book tax
amount, changes in the deferred tax assets and deferred tax liability (please do
your own research for your better understanding of these concepts and the method
of calculating the cash tax amount the book tax amount.)
(xv) Calculate the cash tax rate for both companies. Which company has higher cash
tax rate? (Please do your own research to familiarise yourself with how to
calculate cash tax rate).
(xvi) Why is the cash tax rate different from the book tax rate?
Please remember some aspects of your companies’ treatment of tax can be a very complicated
area, particularly for some companies. For a better understanding of the concepts included in
the assignment that has not been introduced in the class, please do your own research

APPLICATION PROJECT OPTIONS

The APPLICATION PROJECT OPTIONS from which you may choose are:

1. Prenatal Development

6. Adult Development
Write your autobiography from your earliest memories to your present stage of adult development. The focus of this paper should be on the determinants of your present personality. Using Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development, state how you think you resolved each of the crises of development (for early stages, you may have to ask others or draw conclusions based on your present personality). Give specific examples from your life story to support your conclusions.
7. Aging
Make up at least ten open-ended questions and ask them of a minimum of 5 individuals over the age of 65. Among the questions that you should ask them are, “What would you do differently if you had your life to live over again?” and “What advice would you give a person of my age on how to live a meaningful life?” Write your questions and the answers received in your paper and include any conclusions you would make about aging.
8. Death and Dying

critical response to the discussion in Bellis’s Helpmates, Harlots, Heroes related to one of the women characters we are studying in Weeks 2 and 3: Eve, Hagar, Dinah, or Tamar. It should be 1000-1200 words

critical response to the discussion in Bellis’s Helpmates, Harlots, Heroes related to one of the women characters we are studying in Weeks 2 and 3: Eve, Hagar, Dinah, or Tamar. It should be 1000-1200 words

Your paper should:

  • be written in clear and correct academic style.
  • use in-text citations for the Bible and the Bellis book, like this (Bellis, 30) or “this” (Gen 3:4).
  • make a critical argument from your own perspective, not simply summarize the chapter.
  • connect your interpretation of the passage to contemporary concerns raised by women in our own culture.
  • be submitted as a Word document on Box, named with your last name and “paper 1.” For example: “Bibb Paper 1.docx”. This is absolutely essential! Box doesn’t handle it well when more than one person turns in a paper with the same name.

Content checklist:

  • Thesis statement is clear, specific, and significant. There is no vague or overly general nonsense in the opening paragraph.
  • One substantive paragraph concisely presents the most important issues raised in the Bellis chapter.
  • Three or more substantive paragraphs provide specific, evidence-based arguments in response to the chapter. [Things to think about: Which arguments in the chapter are strong or weak, and why? What is at stake in the discussion, and what implications flow from these arguments? How do these arguments connect with academic, popular, or religious-based reading of the Bible?]
  • One or two substantive paragraphs connect the issue specifically to contemporary social and political issues related to women, gender, or sexuality.

Briefly summarize the steps of aerobic cell respiration, beginning with glycolysis going through the Krebs cycle and ending with ATP synthesis in the mitochondria. Be sure to note the roles of electron carriers such as NAD+ and the proton gradient generated in the mitochondria.

Cell Respiration in the Human Body
-Adapted from “Playing with Cell Respiration” Collaborative Learning Activity, McGraw Hill Education

The cell respiration pathways are complex and controlled. Substances may increase or decrease the effect of these pathways, and could have either helpful therapeutic or negative (even lethal!) consequences.

The compound DNP interferes with cellular respiration and was used as an effective weight loss treatment. Unfortunately, doctors found that “the treatment not only eliminated fat, but also the patients” (A New Look at Mechanisms in Bioenergetics, Academic Press, 1976, p. 155).

Substances that affect cell respiration may potentially be developed into ‘weight-loss’ drugs or ‘weight-gain’ drugs. Some of these substances are marketed as nutritional supplements that increase energy levels and enhance athletic performance.

A substance that decreases the production of ATP could be useful as a weight-loss drug.

Individuals taking such a drug (and eating the same amount as before) would need to convert more of the food consumed into ATP than before, having less to store in the body—and potentially burning fuel that was previously stored, both resulting in weight loss.

A substance that increases the production of ATP could be useful as a weight-gain drug.

Individuals (eating the same amount as before taking the drug) would need to burn less of the food consumed to get needed ATP levels, allowing more to be stored in the body—resulting in weight gain, or more energy available to the cell for activity.

Prompts:

  1. Briefly summarize the steps of aerobic cell respiration, beginning with glycolysis going through the Krebs cycle and ending with ATP synthesis in the mitochondria. Be sure to note the roles of electron carriers such as NAD+ and the proton gradient generated in the mitochondria.
  • Now, for each of the substances below, consider the impact of each substance on cellular respiration.
  1. Substance A’s Effect: Prevents electrons from binding to NAD+.
  • Determine whether this substance would result in weight gain or weight loss. Explain your reasoning.
  1. Substance B’s Effect: Increases the number of protons concentrated in the mitochondria intermembrane compartment
  • Determine whether this substance would result in weight gain or weight loss. Explain your reasoning.
  • The substances described above all interfere with aerobic respiration, requiring oxygen. When your cells run out of oxygen, such as your muscle cells during intense exercise, they can switch to lactic acid fermentation.
  1. Describe what lactic acid fermentation is, and compare the amount of energy produced during formation to the ATP yield of aerobic respiration.
  • Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and nucleic acids can all contribute to cell respiration through the various metabolic pathways in a cell.
  1. Which of these biomolecules is the most efficient at energy production? Explain your answer.
  2. What will your cells synthesize if more than enough ATP is currently being produced? (That is, how will your cells store this excess energy for later?)

Just make sure to always include references with citation, per APA formatting rules.

How Effective is Your Home Cleaner?

Introduction: Look around you! Have you ever thought, “Hmm…I wonder why that happens?” If you have asked yourself that question, you were thinking like a scientist!
Many years ago Joseph Lister used the Scientific Method to determine the conditions that were leading to higher “child birth fever” deaths in new mothers in the hospital where he worked. Your task is to determine an experimental procedure to test the effectiveness of home cleaners on contaminated cutting boards. Use the guide below to record your experimental design by answering the provided questions.

Project title (think about what the title of your lab report would be):
Research Group Members:
1.
2.
3.
4.

What is the Question that you want to ask?

Formulate a specific, testable Hypothesis. Your question may be general, but your hypothesis must be specific enough to predict a specific result. Keep it simple and focused.
Example: “Why are plants green?” is a general question. “Plants are green because the chlorophyll pigment they contain absorbs light in the red and yellow wavelengths” is a specific, testable hypothesis.

Give a biological Justification for your hypothesis. That is, what is your hypothesis based on? What facts or previous knowledge lead you to believe your hypothesis is correct? (Remember that a hypothesis is not a random guess, but is based on previous knowledge!) Be specific and be sure your justification is based on what you know about biology.
Example: “We know that plants contain chlorophyll and that visible color results from a molecule’s ability to absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect the remaining wavelengths.”

Summarize how you will carry out an Experiment to test your hypothesis. You do not have to give a step-by-step protocol this time, but include enough detail to show that you have thought through the experiment carefully. What conditions will you change in your experiment? What reagents, volumes, temperatures, time points, pHs, etc. will you use? How many Trials will you do? What Controls will you need?
If you do not include enough detail to show that you know how you are going to do the experiment, you will have to re-write your experimental plan!

How will you Analyze your data? Will you need to calculate rates? draw graphs? perform statistical tests? compare with other research groups?

What Predictions does your hypothesis make about the outcome of your experiment? That is, if your hypothesis were correct, what results would you expect? What kind of results would not support your hypothesis?

Standard materials that will be made available to you for this study will include: Plastic or Wood cutting board
1. Roll of adhesive tape
2. Four Nutrient Agar culture plates
3. Sterile cotton swabs (to be wet)
4. Sterile screw cap tubes of water

List the Materials that you will need, including the needed quantities. You may be responsible for bringing any unusual materials.

DEVELOPMENTAL TASKS

choose one task from the family developmental and life cycle theory and apply that task to a family in your nursing practice.

in addition to examples from your personal experiences to augment the topic. The goal is to make your post interesting and engaging so others will want to read/respond to it. Synthesize and summarize from your resources in order to avoid the use of direct quotes, which can often be dry and boring. No direct quotes are allowed in the discussion board posts.
Objectives
Discuss role changes and the impact of childbearing on the family

Analyze the case study from the psychoanalytic, learning, and contextual perspectives: how would a theorist from each perspective explain Deborah’s development? Which perspective do you believe provides the most adequate explanation, and why?

. Deborah Shore, aged 45, works for a small corporation in the Research and Development department. When she first became a member of the department 15 years ago, Deborah was an unusually creative and productive researcher; her efforts quickly resulted in raises and promotions within the department and earned her the respect of her colleagues. Now, Deborah finds herself less interested in doing research; she is no longer making creative contributions to her department, although she is making contributions to its administration. She is still respected by the coworkers who have known her since she joined the firm, but not by her younger coworkers.

Analyze the case study from the psychoanalytic, learning, and contextual perspectives: how would a theorist from each perspective explain Deborah’s development? Which perspective do you believe provides the most adequate explanation, and why?

  1. Interview your mother (and grandmothers, if possible), asking about experiences with childbirth. Include your own experiences if you have had children. Write a paper summarizing these childbirth experiences and comparing them with the contemporary experiences described in the text.

  1. Identify a “type” of parent (e.g., single parent, teenage parent, low-income parent, dual-career couple) who is most likely to be distressed because an infant has a “difficult” temperament. Explain why you believe that this type of parent would have particular problems with a difficult infant. Write an informational brochure for the selected type of parent. The brochure should include an explanation of temperament in general and of the difficult temperament in particular, and give suggestions for parents of difficult infants.

  1. Plan an educational unit covering nutrition, health, and safety for use with preschoolers and kindergartners. Take into account young children’s cognitive and linguistic characteristics. The project should include (1) an outline of the content of the unit; and (2) a description of how the content would be presented, given the intellectual abilities of preschoolers. For example, how long would each lesson be? What kinds of pictures or other audiovisual materials would be used? How would this content be integrated with the children’s other activities in preschool or kindergarten?

  1. Visit two day care centers and evaluate each center using the information from the text as a guide. Request a fee schedule from each center. Write a paper summarizing your evaluation of each center. Note: Unless you are an actual potential client of the center, contact the director beforehand to explain the actual purpose of the visit, obtain permission to visit, and schedule your visit so as to minimize disruption to the center’s schedule.

  1. Watch some children’s television programs and advertising, examine some children’s toys and their packaging, read some children’s books, and listen to some children’s recordings, looking for evidence of sex-role socialization. Write a paper comparing these contemporary influences with those you remember from your own childhood, and discuss the implications of the differences and similarities you find.

  1. Write a paper describing things your parents did to help you in school and anything your parents did that hindered you in school. If you have young brothers and/or sisters, include your parents’ influences on their education. Analyze your parents’ actions from the standpoint of the characteristics discussed in the text.

8. Write a paper summarizing the theoretical perspectives on identity presented in the textbook. Identify the perspective you find most acceptable, and justify your choice. Evaluate the information in light of your own development in adolescence.
