You have been tasked with acquiring a contract with one of divisions of the federal government that is developing driverless convoys for moving goods and supplies. A customer is able to easily attach your system to a standard portable radar & laser system. As the lead negotiator, you are aware of the size of the U.S. government and the strength of its negotiating power. You are also aware of the break-even point in which your company would need to reach in order to make a profit. Describe the essential steps that you would advise your negotiation team to take in opening the negotiation session with the U.S. government negotiators.
Analyze two (2) negotiating gambits that you would use to conduct a successful negotiation session. Justify your response.
Outline the major reasons why it is important for you, as a negotiator, to write the contract that represents the interests of your company, as opposed to allowing the government’s negotiation team to dictate the terms of the contract. Present two (2) reasons why you would not want to allow industry members to write the contract. Justify your response.

Manufacturing and Service Process Maps

A foundation of operations in both manufacturing and service environments is vital in order to drive inefficiencies and examine ways to achieve greater supply chain integration with suppliers and customers. In this assignment, you will compare one manufacturing and one service driven company through creating visual representations of how the product or service is created and delivered, accompanied by a written summary.

Select two companies of interest, one manufacturing company (e.g., a shoe company) and one service company (e.g., a technical support company). Provide a brief summary of each company including compelling evidence illustrating the company is either a manufacturing or a service company. Avoid selecting a company that could be arguably both.

Manufacturing

Research the manufacturing process for the selected company. Create a manufacturing process map. Explain the elements of infrastructure for the manufacturing company using flow charts and be sure to provide a key. Cite three to five sources to support your process map.

Service

Research the service process for the selected company. Create a service process map. Explain the elements of infrastructure for the service company using flow charts and be sure to provide a key. Cite three to five sources to support your process map.

Summary

Provide a 750-1,000-word summary describing the differences and similarities between manufacturing and service environments. For each company, identify if customer-introduced variability is available. If not, how would you implement flexibility for customer-introduced variability? How will a deep understanding of both manufacturing and service environments help you in your future or current career? Provide an example.

Whether or not we are aware of the impact a person or event might have on our lives, we fine ourselves referring to a situation, a place, a person, an image that haunts our memory.

Whether or not we are aware of the impact a person or event might have on our lives, we fine ourselves referring to a situation, a place, a person, an image that haunts our memory. Perhaps the image has left an indelible mark on our daily lives, or maybe it is a thought we nurture and call upon infrequently. Regardless of the situation or image, this mysterious “thing” has caused us to stop, take notice, and hopefully reflect.

Artists rely on the feelings that are inherent in these sacred moments – they create from this place, they refer to the implications of the moment, they see something universal and uniquely private. What was one of these moments for you? What forced you to stop? What brought you to your earthly experience and took you away from what could have been a monotonous day? Was it a scene in a film? A song? Something someone said to you?

Tell me about this thing. What meaning does it have in your life? Can you find the words to describe it? Are there no words for it? Did you recognize the “thing” as being significant when it was happening? Do you think about it often?

Most importantly – how do you know it was pivotal? Are there psychological analyses of what happened to you? Why did you feel the way you did? Why do you feel the way you do now? Is there evidence of a similar situation in your past? In someone else’s past? Is there something tangible about the evidence? is it a gut feeling? Is your personal truth your evidence?

This will be an essay of at least 3 pages wherein you may reveal who you are artistically speaking. Do you want to relay the story in a comical way? Poetically? In prose with images? Though the format only allows you to communicate with words on paper – can you come close to bringing to light the impact of the thing which gave you pause?

When analyzing the definition and current examples of critical infrastructure, election infrastructure SHOULD NOT be considered a U.S. critical infrastructure subsector.

The protection of the United States’ critical infrastructure is
vital to quality of life expectation for every American. The
disruption of the nation’s critical infrastructure would have
devastating impacts due to high level of connectedness at all
levels of society. However, when most citizens provide
examples of critical infrastructures, physical structures such
as roadways, bridges, pipelines, dams, power plants and
water systems are commonly listed. While these physical structures are obviously worthy of protection, other systems (physical and/or virtual) may need increased attention/consideration.

The following position paper will require students to think critically about the relationship between the U.S. election infrastructure and its designation as a U.S. critical infrastructure. For purposes of this assignment, “election infrastructure,” will mean storage facilities, polling places, and centralized vote tabulations locations used to support the election process, and information and communications technology to include voter registration databases, voting machines, and other systems to manage the election process and report and display results on behalf of state and local governments. The 2016 election highlighted several challenges with the U.S. election infrastructure, but the question remains, “should it (election infrastructure) be identified as critical, especially when comparing it to critical infrastructure that was listed previously in this document or discussed in class, the textbook or the student’s other readings/knowledge.

Students should provide a plan of action that supports ONE OF TWO positions (do not “straddle the fence”, choose a position and defend it!!):

  1. A)  When analyzing the definition and current examples of critical infrastructure, election infrastructure SHOULD NOT be considered a U.S. critical infrastructure subsector.

OR

  1. B)  When analyzing the definition and current examples of critical infrastructure, election infrastructure SHOULD be considered a U.S. critical infrastructure subsector.

Hypothesis Testing

As an administrator to a health education program, you suspect that pairing first year students with third-year students will help improve their end-of-year evaluations. To test your hypothesis, you develop a mentoring program that has three groups. Group one will be the control. Group two will meet in person weekly. Group three will keep in touch using social media and texting.

Use PSPP to analyze the scores in the Unit 6 data set (ATTACHED AS A CSV FILE) with ANOVA.

Write an executive summary of your study. In the summary, include the ANOVA test results, your hypothesis and its resolution, and the implications of your findings. You must include at least two references (academic sources that must be cited in APA style).
