In order to differentiate between two items, one must be able to identify the characteristics first, and then explain what sets the items apart from each other. Of the three classic developmental research designs presented in the textbook, the cross-sectional design, the longitudinal design, and the sequential design, first describe the classic developmental research design, and then pick one of the three classic developmental research designs and state why you think that research design is better than the other designs.

Describe the components of a longitudinal design.
Describe the components of a sequential design.
Choose one of the classic developmental research designs that you would use to conduct research, if you were a developmental psychologist.
Explain why you would use that particular classic developmental research design in a study you were conducting, as opposed to a different classic developmental research design.
