The goal of your proposal is to effectively present and justify the figure of modernity you are
choosing to write about. You should also convey your sense of purpose in this proposal – what
will you accomplish by writing about your figure in particular? This proposal is also a
comprehensive overview of who your figure is

Your proposal should be no more than 500 words and you may present it in essay form or outline form as long as it provides a rationale for your figure. Please use a standard:
12-point font,
double-space, and upload to Titanium on or before the deadline as a .doc, .docx, or .pdf.

This proposal is worth 50 points and must include the following:
• Full name, date, and word count in the header
• Title of your figure
• Justification for your figure (why does your figure matter)
• Overview of how you will link your figure to Asian modernity and specific Asian
cultures
• Overview of any literature you will utilize to help develop your figure (please cite at least
two sources you will reference)
