Final Project Synthesis: Community Agency, Networking & Intervention

For this assignment, the agencies you presented in the week 3 Community Agency Review assignment, and core points from the Kearney (2001) book, will be used in application to the case scenario noted below. The case scenario is completely fictitious, however, reflects events that occur for which clients seek support services.

Case Scenario:
You are a lay-counselor in your church services program. You are assigned to work with a family. Andrea, an only child, is an 8 year old female, and was medically diagnosed with a sexually transmitted illness just one week ago. From this diagnosis, investigation discovered that she was being sexually abused by her Uncle. It is suspected that this had been occurring since the age of 4, when Andrea’s mother began a full-time job, which necessitated leaving the daughter in the care of the child’s Aunt. The medical personnel who diagnosed the STI appropriately reported the suspected abuse. Andrea was visited and interviewed, in school, by a Child Protective Services worker. Andrea, since disclosure and findings, has become withdrawn, exhibits frequent crying, and has expressed that she hates herself. Having difficulty in coping with findings that their daughter was sexually abused and confused with the process of the investigation, the parents report frequently arguing, blaming themselves and each other, and feeling guilty regarding “letting this happen.” Additionally, they report uncertainty as to how to help Andrea.

Apply specific core points from Kearney’s (2001) book to work with the case scenario clients. Construct a plan of how you could guide the case-scenario family through navigating this event. Use core information from the Kearney text. Predict what agencies might be involved in this scenario, and explain why they would be involved. Key words include apply, construct, use core information, predict, discuss. (Approximately two page)

Networking & Collaboration (Synthesis of Information from Kearney (2001) and Community Service Agencies:

Either drawing from the agencies you presented in your Community Agency Review 1 and 2 assignment (week 3), or choosing 2 different Community Service Agencies in your geographical area, discuss the roles of these community agencies, and how their service provision could be helpful to the case scenario family/child. Discuss why you chose these service agencies as appropriate. Present a plan of how you would collaborate with the agencies to provide complete and informed support to the family. Provide information and ideas from the Kearney (2001) text and course materials to validate and support your plan. The Community Review Assignment required the development of a plan of collaboration. Take this to the next level. For this final project, present a plan of collaboration for the benefit of this case scenario client, and validate your plan, or adjust your plan, based from core points in the Kearney text and course materials. Be sure to discuss both agencies in this section. Key words include construct, demonstrate, design a plan. (Two pages).
