This assignment is in two separate parts that covers your understanding of the concepts & definitions illness, health and stress; and how the effects of perceptions, experiences and factors could influence an individual’s responses to health, illness and pain. Finally the consequences/impact of stress on the body, and how an individual’s perception of stressors and experiences could impact on their coping strategies and responses

TASK 1 (a/c 1.1; 2.1 & 2.2) – (750 words)

To complete this task you will need to produce a piece of writing in a booklet format that explains the definitions of health and illness (AC 1.1). It then needs to be extended to include an analysis of the effect that an individual’s perceptions and experiences could have on their health (AC 2.1). Finally, you need to ensure you include in your responses some factors of particular interest to you, such as cultural, individual and socio-economic which might influence a person’s perception and feelings of pain (AC 2.2)
Thus for the first part of this task you should define the concepts of health and illness. Then for the rest of the task you should provide an analysis of how the effects of perceptions, experiences and factors could influence an individual’s responses to health, illness and pain.

TASK 2 (a/c 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4) – (750 – 850 words)

This task covers the psychology of stress; and by way of research present an informative written evidence in a form of a leaflet for a manager of a residential home, comparing at least two models of stress (biology/event theory/transactional models) (AC 3.1), its possible short term and long term effects on the body (AC 3.2), and the variation of possible individual coping strategies and responses taking into account their perception of stressors and experiences (AC 3.4). You are then expected to draw on your explanations of the models above and analyse the effectiveness of various sources of stress in relation to the transactional (AC 3.3).
