The review should be typewritten (double-spaced), at least three (3) full pages in length and consist of three parts: (a) summary of the article and its research findings and/or recommendations (not to exceed one page), (b) a critique of the article/research study; and (c) a discussion of the relevance of the article to current practice. Appropriate APA, 6th edition, citation should be used throughout the paper.
When reviewing an article, write out the reference citation, using APA format, at the beginning of the paper. Then include your responses to the following questions:
1. What is the research question (s) posed by the author?
2. What do you know about the author? Are there other researchers who have addressed this same topic? (Look at the reference list.)
3. What are the major current issues related to this research topic?
4. What are the characteristics of the study participants?
5. Describe the methodology and major findings.
6. What are the implications of this study for the future of higher education?
7. What are the possibilities for future study? Include at least one idea of your own outside of those presented in the article.
8. Was there anything in the article that surprised you? Was there anything that seemed particularly upsetting, or encouraging, or in line with your own research?
9. Was there anything that seemed to be a departure from previous research?
10. Were there findings that are particularly susceptible to bias?
11. Is the methodology sound?
12. Do the participants seem fairly representative?
13. Would you do the study in the same way?
14. How would you approach the issue?
