Part 1. Annotated BibliographyThis assignment asks you to write an annotated bibliography of 10 references aimed exploring topics for your final paper and presentation. By definition, a bibliography is organized in alphabetical order by Author’s last name. Select a style format and use it consistently. You may use class material as a starting point but you may not include them in your annotated bibliography. In addition, you are expected to incorporate a minimum of 2 scholarly articles into your research. “A scholarly article is one that appears in a journal that has an editorial board of academics. Annotations should be approximately 3-5 sentences and include a statement about the way the reference contributes to your thinking about your research. If it does not, please say that too.Finally, if you are not focusing on an object, then your paper should include specific reference to an object related to your subject, and illustratable from a museum such as the BMA, the Walters, or from a web site such as ArtStor, or MesoWeb.
Part 2 Topical StatementAssigned length: 1/2 typewritten, double-spaced pages and attached to your annotated BibliographyFont: Times New Roman, size 12This assignment asks you to narrow down the topic for your final paper and presentation. Take your Annotated Bibliography as a starting point and set the parameters for your topic. Also identify a specific object that will accompany your topic or be the focus of your paper. Your statement should include the topic you wish to focus on, the primary category of object you will address or include, and the culture(s) you will address. Please explain what aspect of the object interests you the most for example, art production/manufacturing, technical use, trade, ritual functions, symbolism, etc. If you have ideas about your museum object, you should include this as well. If there is some aspect of your topic that you are uncertain about, please state this clearly.
