This 3-4 page persuasive essay requires you to explore the problem in your region. You
will consider what is means to demonstrate the severity of a problem and create an exigence for
change. You are also expected to refine your research skills.
Guidelines
In approximately 3-4 typed pages (not including the title page or the reference page) using APA
format, you should:
• Provide a succinct but thorough analysis of the problem in your region. You are not yet
providing a possible solution.
o Be sure to address existence, magnitude, urgency, and relevance of the problem.
How many people does it affect? Whom does it affect? How does it affect them?
o Use the “Presenting the Problem” chapter by Clark to guide your writing.
• Cite at least 4 high quality sources to support the arguments you make. You must use the
following source types: 2 peer-reviewed scholarly articles, 1 newspaper or periodical, and
1 government, university, or research institution source. You may use some or all of the
sources from your Annotated Bibliography Paper.
