PHILOSOPHICAL ESSAY
As a required assignment, worth 100 points, write a 2-page (between 800-900 words) reflection essay about the role of philosophy in your life.
FORMAT (NO COMPLIANCE WITH THE FORMAT WILL LEAD TO LOSS OF POINTS AS INDICATED IN THE RUBRIC BELOW)
A 2-page reflection essay (between 800-900 words), typed in 1.5-space, font times new roman 12, margins of 1”, and must contain a heading as shown in the sample provided by the instructor in Blackboard. Essay should be based on the student’s thoughts (DO NOT GOOGLE FOR THIS ESSAY) about the importance of philosophy in his/her life and must address the questions described below under “content”. Essay must be created in MS Word and delivered electronically as an attachment in BLACKBOARD (no other form of delivery will be accepted/graded—see essay submission instructions in Blackboard), in a way that it is received by the instructor on 11/14/2018, by 11:59 PM at the latest.

Provide an overview of the importance of philosophy and the effects that it might have on your life. Your essay MUST address the following questions:
1. What is philosophy?
2. Can philosophy help you live a better life? Why or why not?
3. What kind of philosophical parameters/theories do you use to determine your actions, your thoughts, in
summary, the kind of life you live?
4. You live the kind of life you live because you think it is the best life possible, right? Do you think that if
other people lived your kind of life, the world would be a better place? Why or why not?
ESSAY GRADING
This essay is a required assignment worth 100 points. It will be graded based on the following criteria:

6. Voluntary or involuntary Plagiarism as detected by TURNITIN ……………………0 point for the assignment
(Effort is not part of the criteria for grading the essay. There is no point for the effort the student put into the creation of the essay.)
The essay grade will be released in Blackboard to students no later than Wednesday, Nov 28, 2018.
Note: In order to receive Writing Credit the student should receive C or above as final grade in the course.
