Biology has interested me more than any subject as I grew up. Whether it is animals to ecological problems, I have always had a particular interest in the field of biology, even if I was not fully aware of it at the time. I used to tell people that I wanted to be a zookeeper throughout my elementary school years because I intrigued by how animals gained their own specific traits and utilized them to survive. Later, I also began to wonder how animals and other organisms, including human, interact with the environment around them, as I recently worked on a research project that helped determine the amount of fecal contamination, which brought me into an interest in doing biological research as I discovered how the collected data could demonstrate the corresponding factors between animals and environment.

Every morning starts at 6 AM to the beeping sound of my phone alarm that is all too familiar to most people. After some toast with cream cheese and some coffee, I get ready to go to Grafton High School. I drive there with the radio on and instantly my car becomes a karaoke machine, and I am singing my heart out to myself, which helps me wake up and gives me a slight boost of cheerfulness to help me get through the day. After 10 AM, I have the delightful chance to decide where I want for lunch before I make my way to Governor’s School at 11:20. The possibilities are endless from a school lunch with friends, ramen, to even Chipotle! I always try to make the most out of what seems to be a mundane day by asking myself: what can I do to make someone smile? School is not easy academically and emotionally, so I work everyday, along with my schoolwork, to make sure my friends happy by making jokes and being friendly. After school, I go to mentorship with Dr. Sablan, an orthopedist, where I shadow him and learn how the body works and how to treat different muscular pains. I come home by 6 PM to eat a wonderful home-cooked Korean meal by my mom. Afterwards comes the most dreaded part of the day: homework, which I grudgingly finish before I go to bed.
