1. What is race, and what is race not? What is its origin in the U.S. and how has race and racial categories changed throughout our history? What about race has remained the same? Please discuss some–that means at least two–specific examples of “race” and racial categorization, and the consequences of these categorizations, from the history of the U.S. as noted in the readings and documented in the videos. 2. What is white privilege? Why do many people we have read and watched this semester use the term “white privilege” (as opposed to other terms)? What are some specific examples of white privilege noted in the readings, documented in the videos, and seen by yourself in your life? How does class (economic class) interrelate with race and the origin of white privilege?
