I’m applying to two different schools/programs for graduate school the first one is a chemistry master’s and the second one is masters of professions in dairy technology, but I can only submit one personal statement for BOTH programs. Therefore, you have to try to incorporate the commonalities between the two programs. I don’t want one program to feel as if the personal statement doesn’t apply to their program!! Therefore, it should be somewhat general, but not too general. With a chemistry master’s degree my end goal would be becoming a chemistry professor or working in the industry. For the dairy technology program, it basically trains students to attain leadership and management roles in the dairy foods manufacturing industry, such as: operations manager, product development, food safety, etc. The chemistry master’s program is heavily researched based, but the dairy technology is somewhat researched based. I have attached my resume. Some ideas: I want mentioned that I have a solid scientific background for example doing analytical research (besides my degree). I want mentioned how my employment background (working with people) and having those interpersonal skills will prepare me to not only enter grad school, but also prepare me for my future career, such as: working in the dairy industry. I also want mentioned that the master’s degree will obviously help me achieve my future aspirations and dreams and that I’m a self-motivated/driven individual etc. If you have any specific questions don’t hesitate to ask, I tried to make it clear. Also, I have volunteered before if that’s even relevant.
