Please use the supports/examples: OBERGEFELL v. HODGES which legalized gay marriage and said that states couldn’t bar it. Essentially it removed the notion that marriage was a “state” issue under the 10th Amendment and that because marriage is a fundamental right, the states cannot block gay marriage. Power shifted to the federal government Contrast that with U.S. v. Lopez wherein the SCOTUS ruled that COngress overreached with the commerce clause in passing the Gun Free Schools Zone Act. SCOTUS said, essentially, that gun regulation was a state matter – power to the states and less for the federal government
